It would be traumatic for a child to see the things you listed, but not so for drag. It is performance art, like clowns.
I think the real reason people don't like kids seeing drag is:
- they think it's sexual
- they're worried that if kids see it they might become like that
- it makes them feel uncomfortable for whatever reason

Men dressing as women has been a staple of comedy since the dawn of time. Did you enjoy "Some Like It Hot"? Bosom Buddies? Hairspray?5thhorseman wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2026 6:30 pmIt would be traumatic for a child to see the things you listed, but not so for drag. It is performance art, like clowns.

It has been especially common at all male schools and in the military, as there weren't female actors/singers available.
Back in Shakespeare's days, all female parts on stage were performed by male actors.
I have no idea why Americans have suddenly become so bothered by it.
Reagan definitely did not have a problem with it, nor did anyone seemingly back then:

Guess it is part of the general spread of cancel culture. People have become such snowflakes.

Well, actually: The Russian Foreign Ministry, ..., sharply condemned the joint US-Israeli military operation in Iran, calling it "a pre-planned and unprovoked act of armed aggression against a sovereign and independent UN member state in violation of fundamental principles and norms of international law."

Seriously though, Russia condemning "a pre-planned and unprovoked act of armed aggression against a sovereign and independent UN member state in violation of fundamental principles and norms of international law" is kind of hilarious.
I mean, look in the fucking mirror! That's your whole modus operandi.
I think it was Kaja Kallas that recently pointed out that over the past century Russia had invaded 19 countries, some repeatedly.
Now I'm sure the US can probably compete with that, but still.
Well, Hezbollah has tried, launching a handful of missiles and drones into Israel, but sure, no one major. No one is coming to save the Iranian regime.
Russia is already stretched thin, unsuccessfully trying to invade one of their smaller neighbours for four years already with very little to show for it, and actually relying on Iranian drones and North Korean cannon fodder to get anywhere at all. It's not like they have the ability to assist their ally in need.
I think the main purpose is to get everyone's mind off of the Epstein files, and Trump's mind is constantly wandering, but sure.Maybe it'll take Trump's mind (what's left of it, if any), off Canada and tariffs for a while.

When it’s employed as comedy, or out of necessity in a dramatic content, nobody actually has a problem with it.Per wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 12:32 amMen dressing as women has been a staple of comedy since the dawn of time. Of course there can be a drag show that has sexual elements to it and I would not be okay with kids watching that.Mëds wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 8:42 amWhen it’s employed as comedy, or out of necessity in a dramatic content, nobody actually has a problem with it.Per wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 12:32 amMen dressing as women has been a staple of comedy since the dawn of time. Similarly, some comedy shows (drag or otherwise) have inappropriate material for kids.
But I thought we were talking about drag in that video Donnie posted. I don't see anything of issue in that, unlike all the people commenting. Just amazing, some of the reactions.
