Why the hell is there a kid sitting on Jim Nabors lap?
Gohmert, your thoughts?
I have no clue. Didn't watch his shows when I was a kid. All I know is he was a comedian, a singer and then heard later, he was a gay.
Come back Gomer. This place needs you

US Sec of Homeland Security Myorkas has come out and said the Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, doesn't have enough money for hurricane relief and is expecting one more storm before the end of hurricane season.
FEMA had $1 billion of it's treasury raided by Harris-Biden to support illegal immigrants.
Myorkas is hoping Congress will pass a new debt ceiling bill soon to bail it out. Speaker Johnson is holding to the originally planned timeline of not having a vote until after the election.
Kamala is giving victims of hurricane Helene $750 in emrgency aid, $50 more than the folks of Maui got after their town was destroyed by fire.

Sadly, more lies from the Trump campaign. True, $1B has been spent on non-citizens over the last two years, but this is part of the SSP budget approved by Congress.

"These claims are completely false," a DHS spokesperson told Newsweek Thursday, addressing the accusations by Abbott and others. "As Secretary Mayorkas said, FEMA has the necessary resources to meet the immediate needs associated with Hurricane Helene and other disasters.
"The Shelter and Services Program (SSP) is a completely separate, appropriated grant program that was authorized and funded by Congress and is not associated in any way with FEMA's disaster-related authorities or funding streams."

As Myorkas has said, with another storm predicted, they do not have the funds to get through hurricane season

The funding was in the latest bill to keep the government open but was removed to get it passed.

Did AI tell you that?
Mayorkas claims there isn't enough funding to get through the end of hurricane season.
Are FEMA workers afraid of Deliverance?

Lawmakers stunned as disaster funds left out of stopgap bill
Congress approved a funding patch Wednesday without supplemental disaster money, even as Hurricane Helene bears down on Florida.
A pair of destructive hurricanes along the Gulf Coast, an explosion of wildfires across the West and urgent pleas from Democrats and the White House this month were not enough to persuade Congress to secure new funding for disaster victims.
The House and Senate kicked off a six-week preelection recess Wednesday evening after passing a government funding extension that left out billions of dollars in requested supplemental disaster funding — even as Hurricane Helene, expected to grow into a Category 3 storm by Thursday evening, careened toward the Florida Panhandle.

Interestingly, if anyone raided the Disaster Relief Fund against the will of Congress to repurpose those funds for illegal immigrants, it was Trump back in 2019:

Reading newspapers out of Israel the past few days and they have been very interesting regarding Hamas leader Sinwar.
A few days ago they posted video of him walking through tunnels carrying a brief case believed to be filled with explosives and walking along with hostages.
The story was that they had plenty of chances to eliminate him but he was shielded by hostages.
Now there are stories that he is in contact with Qatar.
Israel is broadcasting his every move in Gaza while the senior leadership of Hezbollah in Beirut.

Hmm, in August, the DHS inspector general identified $9.4 billion in unliquidated funds from expired programs, $7 billion of which can probably be returned to the Disaster Relief Fund.
https://www.oig.dhs.gov/sites/default/f ... -Aug24.pdf
Now, normally "proof" a claim is false isn't (1) accusation of government ineptitude, (2) denial by the government of their own ineptitude, (3) therefore, false claim of government ineptitude. Though that passes, nowadays, for an apparatchik press corps whose job it is to shine government boots with their tongue.
Nevertheless, 5th, I think that you are probably correct that the migrant resettlement money can't be redirected, and that the demand by some Republican Senators if for DHS to do something it lacks authority to do. Politicians playing politics -- but what about the Inspector General's report?
Let's abstract from the details. Is anyone making a claim that DHS-FEMA has responded *well* to the most recent hurricane? Does anyone have confidence that it will respond well to Florida, when it (looks like) it is about to get smashed again? Or abstract further -- why has DHS asked for more money to deal with migrants in the country? Because we know full well that their budget requests (and funding) have gone up to deal with that. Could it be because they haven't controlled the border well enough? (What was the excuse for that? Oh yeah, not enough money even though the last administration had it more or less under control).
When every time you fail at your job you point the finger at someone else, that says something. Sometimes you might be right. Sometimes you are wrong and its your own fault. Mostly it doesn't matter. There's always a job to do, and there is always less than ideal resources. And when you are the boss of an agency, the time for identifying a funding shortfall/problem, is well before it is at your feet.
At least Mayorkis is leading the right agency. Because he's been an unmitigated disaster.
