So you're saying 19-year-old Olli Juolevi is "a bust"? :wow:

Dude was mocking those people who call Juolevi a "bust".

You responded as if you are one of those people.

So man up and answer the question.

Do you know what this "bronze game" is?
In sports competitions it is quite common that you have three medalists, winner gets gold, second place silver and third place gets bronze. Have you ever watched eg the Olympics or the FIFA World Cup?
Or even the WJC?

So the bronze game would be a game between the two teams that lost in the semi finals, determining which team gets the bronze and which team gets nothing.

Edit: Oops, guess ESQ already answered this. Well, never mind.

The way Juolevi played at the WJC this season was a far more we’ll rounded game that the previous year.

You can tell he’s been working on the defensive side of his game far more the past year, which is great.

He was far more positonally sound as well, not as flashy. He has Salo helping with his game in Finland doesn’t he?

If Salo’s game can rub off on him at all it’ll be well worth it. Juolevi has the tools and if he’s putting in the effort it’s going to pay off for him. I’m really hoping he surprises next camp!

Olli is going to be a great player.
Not that many players get to play at three WJCs.
That speaks of generational talent. Sure, from a Finnish perspective, but still.
They're a pretty decent hockey nation.

And he'll bring some size to the Canucks blue line.

Don’t know but if he plays another year in Europe it is very telling. He needs to get over to NA and see how he does.

Not a single poster here has said he is a bust except Polly.

But I’m sure now you will link several posts that have.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

The freaking kid is freaking 19 years old! He played in the freaking WJC this year!
Yes, he weighs in at 90 kg and is 190 cm tall, but he is still a 19-yo kid!

He is as young as Elias Pettersson, even if he doesn't look it.

He isn't old enough to buy liquor at a store!

I'd think another year in the SM-liiga could be good for him. Let him mature mentally before heading over.
Not saying Utica would be bad for him; depends a bit on which aspects of his game he needs to develop.
But in general a blueliner has to work harder in Europe, as he has to cover more ground.
Sure, the game on the narrow North American rinks tends to be faster, but there is less lateral movement for the blueliners, so if they can handle big ice, they can usually handle American ice as well.*

This is a big defence-man we are talking about. The transition is harder for smallish forwards.
But he is just 19; no need to rush him!

*Also, back in the 90's the Finns discussed switching to NHL size rinks, but it ended in a compromise. A team can choose eithehr international or NHL size for their home arena, which means some of the Finnish games are actually played on North American rink size.

Nice to hear he’s packed on some muscle. 6’2” and 198lbs is nothing to worry about. If I recall he was like 170lbs when drafted.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

He’s also played a ton on North American ice during his London days. We are not talking about a player that we need to worry about ice size. To me, if he’s ready, you get him to Utica.

What he needs more than anything is to be willing to listen to what the "team" wants him to do during and after camp.

I don’t think that has ever been a problem with him. Sure he was disappointed not to make the Canucks last year but all accounts were that he embraced going back to Finland, playing in the WJC and learning under Salo. In fact he was thrilled about working with a player he grew up idolizing.

I dont think so but waiting for Strange to post the links to posters who have, then RD piling on.

Per - I am not saying that he will not be a steady D man but he may not turn out to be that #1 D man we really need on this team. Now of course Abbott will pile on this saying that I am implying he is a bust and Costello will add his $1.00 worth ($1.00 because he can never stop at $0.02).

For the record I am not saying he is a bust or cannot be a steady D, I could go on and explain in more detail but it wont matter between Abbott, Costello and GOM they read what they want to read.
