TPS Turku lost 6-5 in OT to Tappara and have been eliminated from SM Liiga playoffs. Olli Juolevi had 2 assists in today's game and finished the playoffs with 2g 5a 7pt in 10 games.
Apparently Olli was outstanding today.
Coulda/shoulda had another coupla assists/goals.
He had 10 shots plus another off the crossbar and another off the post.
He played 27 minutes and was plus-3 in a 6-5 game.
The kid really stepped up his play in the playoffs... he's been TPS' best defenceman.

It will be interesting to see if he heads to Utica now or if he's planning one more season in Europe.
First his team has to play one more game in Finland next week... "bronze game"? (dunno know what that is)
Then he will go to Utica or the Worlds (if invited).

Is London still in the playoffs? They own his rights. If they are out of it then yes, he could be assigned, if papered by Benning. That would be good for him.
London has been eliminated, Dhaliwal says Olli has a bronze-medal game and could be on Team Finland for the WCs, but could be in the playoffs with Utica.
If he comes to Utica for the playoffs, that doesn't affect his ELC and it will still have slid for this season.
Tough to say which is better for Olli, playing in the WCs or with Utica for the playoffs. Utica could definitely use him.
Sorry, missed this.
Do you know what this "bronze game" is?
I'm pretty sure he would have to be protected in the 2020 expansion draft if he plays 10+ playoff games this year.
I for one am excited for the next few years. I love the young guys speed and enthusiasm. Yes of course there will be blunders... but I predict that every team we play will have to out hustle outplay bring the better part of their A game to beat us next year.
Here is my predictions for the next 4years
18/19 playoff chances 35% 2 nd round 10%
19/20 70%. 2nd round 35%
20/21. 85%. 2nd rd. 65% 3rd rd 30%
21/22. 95%. 2nd rd. 80% 3rd 65% sc 50%
Well you get my drift...
I am he as you are he as you are me
And we are all together….
Doc - I think the bronze game is for 3rd-place in the league, the 2 eliminated teams from the semis face each other for the "bronze medal" of the league.
For the ELC slide, I'm going off this, which says it slides unless more than 10 NHL games are played, and that AHL games do not count.

Doc, apparently the book is written on Olli, he's a bust apparently.
so a few good games changes the whole season where he has been "normal" and now what is expected from a 5th over all draft pick and expected to be top 2 on the team when he was drafted?

I agree with you on the ELC slide... expansion draft requirements differ on this matter though IIRC.

So you're saying 19-year-old Olli Juolevi is "a bust"?

If I'm a betting man, Doc. Yup, my money is on him saying that. Book Written!

I’m assuming sarcasm? He hasn’t taken the best development path but he’s far from a bust. Just need to see how he looks over the next couple of years. If he becomes a solid 2/3 then he’s a solid player. I’m still expecting a Teppo Numminen type.

Of course it was Diehard1, I think the kid will be great for the Canucks... when is more the issue. At 6’2” and 182lbs... he needs meat! Train up to 190-195 for next yr play some nhl games.... year after train up to 205lbs play only nhl games...
