The leaves have set themselves up nicely. 4.5 million for Kadri, 5 million for Rielly. All through their prime years. Great start @ cap management.
Is this your way of admitting Mr Andersen is overpaid? :D

Six years is alotta term for a Nazi 'Party Animal' Kadri.

(won't be long now...)

Rielly's contract might turn out to be okay for your Leaves.

Horton is on the books for 4 more years @ $5.3M.

(put him on LTIR and all bonuses to young players are applied to the following season's cap)

Same deal with Lupul's $5.25M this year and next.

Signing Martin this past summer to $2.5 X 4 years was dumb.

Leaves will be paying $1.2M of Kessel's salary for another 6 years.

Next year, for not playing with the team, Gleason gets $1.33M and Cowen gets $750K.

All of that counting towards the cap.

But hey if you're happy, that's the main thing!
leaves hacve 4 more years of Kessel, not 6.
Lupul will be on LTIR.
Martin @ 2.5 million was fine. Erikkson at 6 million per. Now that's dumb!
Andersen is 18th in goalie salaries. That doesn't seem like he's overpaid, does it?
A lot of the issues you bring up will be gone when the young players get paid.

They're in a great situation. What young team has a better cap situation BTW?

6 years counting this season:

Read my post again: THAT is the problem!

He's a crappy 4th liner = bad contract for 4 years.

Well next season he moves up to 16th:

https://www.capfriendly.com/browse/acti ... ll/goalies

So he will earn a Number One salary for 5 years... but he hasn't proven he is worthy of that.

The Leaves will suck forever and ever amen.

Yeah if no other goalies get contracts above 5 million...

A very impressive, Colby Amstrong-esque, rookie season out of Mitchell. Colby was +15 though.

Hopefully he doesn't wind up like Marek Svatos.

Wonder if Mitchell's rookie numbers would be better with Crosby or Malkin as his centre?

How would they look with Tomas Surovy?

You guys must be crapping your pants right now. The leaves look so good. I cannot even recall in 30 years of watching hockey a team with this many good rookies.
You guys would be delighted with Connor Brown as your top rookie. He is playing very good and is on pace for 20+ goals. On the leaves, he's the 4th highest scoring rookie and 5th best overall.
There's no organization right now with as bright a future as the leaves.

What aging UFA will your ownership demand the GM sign in July to try to fool Canuck fans into thinking the team is a contender?

Mathews skates and plays similarly to Laine. Oops! Just a matter of time.
Why do you so eagerly open yourself up to be a punching bag?
What does this do for you?
Is it a Mommy didn't love me thing?

14th place is a real achievement, for sure. Good for you.

Keep in mind: We may seem a little bitchy or worried about our team at the moment, but only because we are not use to it. Deep down, we know it will pass smoothly and with dispatch.

Just frightening to see what almost 30 years of ineptitude can do to a city and it's people.

The Canucks won't have enough cap space to make another UFA blunder this summer. Expect a bottom pairing d man and a depth forward while this teams razor thin prospect pool is built up. Bo Horvat should be in his late 20s when he plays his next post season game.

The Edmonton Oilers come to mind.

A team with 3-4 top draft picks, all in the line-up withing 2-3 years of each other. Nothing for leadership or grit on the blueline, and a revolving door of unproven goaltending where the next guy up was gonna be the saviour in the crease.

That turned out well.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

I keep seeing headlines over at TSN how the Leaf mgmt are desperate to fix their anemic D - core. Something about being in the hunt for a top notch stud D - man or a couple legitimate top 4 D-men. Good luck with that Toronto. LMAO, the hardest position in hockey to build up. The Canucks are already MILES ahead in that department

All we Leaf-haters want the Leaves to do well this year right up to the deadline.

Then we'd like to see that ole 18-wheeler to go right off that cliff... again. :mex:

Personally I'd like to see trading-chips JVR and Nylander go down hard any time now.

But that's just me...
