DeBrusk I have to think about...
DeBrusk and Boeser are two sides of the same coin. Smart players, fairly affable personalities, not going to move the needle on their own, or even together, in the absence of a dynamic play driving pivot.
Chemistry is often everything with guys like this.
As an example…..
DeBrusk - Miller (circa 2020-24) - Boeser
I think that has the potential to be a very good first line. DeBrusk has the wheels and smarts to retrieve on a chase, Miller could control the puck and drive the play, Boeser has a really good shot and incredible smarts around the net, and he’s an underrated passer. We saw what JT and Brock could do together, I think DeBrusk would have been a good add to that mix.
But absent that cog in the middle the are just floundering.
It’s like a pod of two whales without Cuz…..boring as hell.

Both shown flashes of impressive brilliance, but have remained inconsistent and overpaid throughout their respective careers.

I agree. However, many players in the league fit that description.
I think Boeser has had a single season where he has been healthy and actually on a line with someone that he fits with (Miller). He was a 40G scorer that season.
I didn't pay close enough attention to who DeBrusk skated with in Boston.

He was all over the place.
Bergeron and Marchand back in the day for a while.
Marchand and Coyle.
Zacha and Heinen.
Boqvist and Frédéric.
Likely speaks to his consistency or lack thereof.
Regardless he has averaged 24.5 goals per 82 games over his career with full seasons of 25 27 27 & 28.
He has also garnered 27 goals over 86 post season outings.
It would be nice of he achieved those numbers with some form of consistency.

Lazy Mëds clip
How do you know he's going to play a full season in 2027 and 28?
Sorry. Couldn't help it.
I think most 25G scorers are streaky.....like DeBrusk. That's what makes them 25G scorers instead of 40G scorers.
Consistent scoring tends to set guys apart.

That analogy is deep as hell.
Such depth of praise for a country bumpkin. Life is just random senselessness...

I think DeBrusk is abnormally streaky.
Or appears thusly anyway...

Ok, I just checked the SJS prospect pool again...
I propose a 1st and "Simon" Haoxi Wang for Sherwood.
Kid from China was picked 33rd overall and is a 6'6" LHD. Smooth skating but a very raw prospect, will likely have a similar progression to Shakir Mukhamadullin.
I'm not really serious but I know Mëds would love the kid and would probably dust off his private jet and buy seasons tickets again.

...and then we would all talk about Mëds Wang for the next 15 years.
Pass.
