For sure - wouldn't it be nice, instead of having to complain how toxic management has been - to be able to cheer for them as well, and be aligned in a vision that everyone can see would be the best for the team, a complete rebuild.
Cheering for the team, management - and maybe... just maybe... the new ownership.
Instead of a having a bunch of scumbags from the exec. offices, up.

As an aside, when was the last time the Canucks had a ‘fathers’ or ‘mothers’ trip? I read a few weeks ago that it has been years.

Other rumours regarding Sherwood... lots of teams interested, but apparently deals have been rejected due to the returns. Teams so far only want to part with a 2nd rounder and prospect.
Our intrepid mgmt is obviously holding out for a 1st and prospect... or maybe they really do want to re-sign him?

Every team in a true rebuild has a knuckle dragger or 2
we have zero.
Agree wholeheartedly. It makes sucking far more interesting and helps toughen the kids up.
Recall Marc Crawford used to always throw the pumpkinheaded Sedin kids out against every team's goon line. They ate some serious beatings from tough mofos and came out of it all the stronger for their troubles
Also need someone to protect the kids.

Good short summary, RG. We started with low expectations, and had much hight expectations for the post-Sedin era. It's just been so mismanaged.
And let's not mention the the dreaded 'm-era'
Mushiocrity ?
I equate that with the post-2011 era. Or did you mean something else ?
Messier.
TRIGGER WARNING!!

Everything should be on the table. Something is seriously wrong if they're not taking calls on everybody.
Come to think of it, are there any untouchables? Even though it probably wouldn't make much sense to move a couple of the young D, but if a Suzuki or C.Gauthier type situation shakes loose you gotta look at it.
Buium, Medvedev and Willander are the only untouchables.
If we are hanging onto vets, I would keep MP40 (great contract) and perhaps Garland (work ethic- and I know Garls is small and a couple regular posters here do not like him)and perhaps Hronek (I am aware that Hroneks value is through the roof, but her need to have someone for kids to play with). So long as we are getting good return on the vets, they are all available, but don't take shit trades just to move guys.

Its a good contract for a middle pairing shutdown defenceman.

Seriously tho…..
MPetey hasn’t impressed this year. The AAV isn’t bad for a #4, but the NMC makes it an atrocious contract. It doesn’t help that he’s been playing like a #6.

when he was paired with Myers, everyone looks worse.

I submit that a middle pairing dman worthy of $6M does not look that much worse regardless of partner. The partner can lead to a poorer +/- and whatever fancy stats you want to employ, and he may be out of position a bit more often trying to cover for his partner. However, it doesn’t lead to being out battled, outsmarted, taking stupid penalties, and making bad passes, to the same level that we have seen. He has no shot to speak of, and he’s not rushing the puck or handling it with much efficiency.
One can argue he’s a reliable #4 on a team with Hughes, Hronek, and (for example) Tanev, behind a competent forward grouping. He has never shown being worthy of $6M + NMC.
