Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26
Everything from expansion to '82 was pretty lame, and '82 was just a blip. But it wasn't discouraging, because expansion expectations were low, and everybody had a different team to cheer for while they waited for the Canucks to become relevant. How the Canucks were doing didn't even seem relevant until the Quinn era, when the team got their first whiff of respectability.
The last 10-15 years haven't been the worst years, but to me, they felt worse because they were coming off what seemed like legitimate chances to succeed that came up short, while also refusing to do what I think we all now agree was the obvious thing to do about it. So the Canucks refused to re-build but wound up sucking anyway, and now instead of getting the payoff from 15 years of playoff irrelevance, they're just (maybe) now starting the hybrid re-tool.

The League being the old-boys club that it is, you need someone with a hockey pedigree in the front office, or the other GMs won't even pick up the phone.
Within that limitation, the Sedins seem to me like smartest people to have been associated with this organization. I'd like to see what they could do.
In a parallel vein, same argument for Larionov, if he could be persuaded to leave Russia.
Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26
Good short summary, RG. We started with low expectations, and had much hight expectations for the post-Sedin era. It's just been so mismanaged.
And let's not mention the the dreaded 'm-era'

Thank you.
Yeah, I tend to just blot those out.
I said Quinn first made the Canucks relevant, but there was another relatively brief Dark Age between the fading of the Quinn era and Burke restoring them to respectability. Because of the much shorter duration, I'd say it wasn't as bad as the past 15 years, personalities notwithstanding.

Willing to trade or just rumour-mongering?

It has been widely reported, coming from Dreger I believe, that the Canucks are not shopping Pettersson but are now willing to listen to offers. So part of the re-build hybrid I guess. Like we won't ask but we will listen. It has also been reported by Dreger that the Canucks have not reached out to Pettersson's agent, which they will need to do if they are serious about trading him.
So to answer your question??? All rumour mongering without substance. Just regurgitating what everyone knows when a team says it is rebuilding, in whatever fashion. Other GMs will do their due diligence. So we click and read. But no offers have been made, just feelers as to what it would take.

Everything should be on the table. Something is seriously wrong if they're not taking calls on everybody.
Come to think of it, are there any untouchables? Even though it probably wouldn't make much sense to move a couple of the young D, but if a Suzuki or C.Gauthier type situation shakes loose you gotta look at it.
