If he has made it clear he won’t re-sign in Vancouver, which is his right, trading him this season is the right call.

Seravalli thinks the Flyers woukd be serious players in the Hughes sweepstakes with the push coming from Tocchet, whom both get along swimmingly. The Flyers have the parts to make this happen, hence Martone, Luchanko (or 2026 1st) and Bonk. They also have Nesbitt and Michkov to work with.

Philadelphia is a stones throw from Jersey. It may not put the brothers on the same team but it would put them on the same street in the same neighborhood. This also may force Jersey into a bidding war to stop Quinn from going to Philly. I certainly hope these two dingbats - Rutherford and Allvin have it in them to create a bidding frenzy if it ever came down to it, but I also hope that if Quinn decides to move on, GM and President are fired and the role of trading Quinn is given to someone else. Do not honour incompetence.

The Flyers are being linked to Quinn Hughes in the latest NHL rumors. Frank Seravalli says Philly is watching the situation in Vancouver closely.

Where there is smoke there is fire. Chef believes that “if” Hughes is dealt Philly will be one of the top players in on the sweepstakes because of the relationship between Hughes and Tocchet, the close proximity to being near his bros in Jersey and the fact the Philly has the assets to attract a deal - Michkov, Martone, Bonk, Nesbitt. Etc.

I don’t think Philly likes the idea of trading Martone but will have no issues dealing Michkov as him and Tocchet are on shakey ground already but if Philly wants Quinn, if Martone ain’t on the table, no deal.

I also believe that with Philly stepping up it may force Jerseys hand from waiting until Quinn goes to market to making a trade for him, something they are hoping to not do, but they may have to with the potential threat of Philly being able to extend Quinn to his next contract after the trade.

My Detroit Red Wings proposal for Hughes (the Hughes clan lives in Detroit)

Simon Edvinsson - LS Defenceman
Carter Bear - left winger
2026 first round pick (currently ranked 11th)

Options

Nate Danielson - Centre

Seguin out for the year.

He would have been anyway as he is who he is but look for Nill to be pro-active on the acquisition market.

Heads up baldies (see wot)....

Islanders received two first round picks in the 2025 draft, the 16th and 17th overall picks, plus Emil Heinemen for Noah Dobson. This may be a better gauge for a potential return on Hughes. The only problem is we don’t want draft picks, so I’m thinking a fair assumption on the return would be:

A 2nd tier level young player
A 2nd tier level prospect
A first round pick

If Hughes really does have to go, I'd say mothball the franchise. Maybe NHL hockey just isn't right for this city. Perhaps it just can't work here.

Shut er down.

I would expect a lot of fans would consider it a last straw.

Unless the Canucks fluke into a ‘home run’ return.

How does the Memphis Canucks sound?

Honestly, if you flush the COY, Norris Dman/best player in franchise history, your old #1 and #2 centers and at least half your fan base... over a guy who can't handle da riddum and a delusional need to be "competitive"...

Shut er down and rent out Rogers for skating parties.

Rutherford knows he’s not winning this war with Hughes and the return will not be satisfactory to the fans and media, he’s in a no win pickle. Not surprised to be hearing this Tallon nonsense. I fully expect Rutherford to step down before the Hughes situation unfolds to save face. He certainly doesn’t want to end his career on this note.

So, “word on the street” New Jersey and Vancouver have touched down on Quinn Hughes. The Devils are playing shite hockey right now, getting boo’ed by the fans. This is the shake up needed to push the Hughes Bros Jersey Reunion into the Twilight Zone where all rumours have been before. I’m telling ya, this is real, where there is smoke there is fire…Getterthefuckdone, rip the bandaid, make grown men cry.

Nemec, Mercer and the 2026 first, which btw is precariously teetering in the Lottery Zone.

No trade happens without Nemec as the centerpiece coming back plus 2 excellent assets tacked on.

I predict they are going to try and fuck around and find out when he goes to the wings instead.
