When a team is rebuilding, I think a good work ethic and a "no quit" attitude are the most important things. It's important to nurture that type of culture when a team is bringing in young prospects. I don't think the Flames are going to win enough games to make the playoffs, but if they show some level of compete, it will bode well for the future.

Oilers drop another one, this time to the upstart Blackhawks. Went with Pickard in net tonight, he was Skinner's equal in terms of soft goals against.

I really liked the Hawks' PP goal that went in off of Nurse's skate to make it 4-1 while McDavid was sitting in the penalty box.

Comic relief from the dimwitted homer calling the game on the Oilers' disallowed goal exclaiming, "Scores! And the Oilers are right back in it 3-2! (The score was 4-1 Chicago at that point. Shortly after Edmonton would capitalize on the remainder of that PP on a redirected chip shot from Draisaitl that homer boy screams, "Draisaitl HAMMERS IT HOME!" Puck was moving about 40 kph.....

As we saw in our first game, goaltending can easily sink your ship. Edmonton is the furthest thing from a contender at this point. Their blueline is weaker than last season and their goaltending is unchanged.

Nothing against Jeff Skinner, but it would make my day if he missed the playoffs for the 15th straight season.

True, but some of us are enjoying the Oil falling on their faces out of the gate...

I hate the Oilers but I fully expect their nucleus to drag them into playoffs and they have two of the games top five players. Calgary will fold like a cheap tent. The next 15-20 games will tell a tale. Is Utah a real team yet? I find the hockey so scrambly right now which is why I am not freaking out about the Canucks. Vegas with that D could be a wagon. I say let Boeser go at the end of the year and bring Shea home.
