Lebrun has linked the Canucks to Wayne Simmons. Of course Sekeres and Price are losing their shit about it.
Hmmm... intriguing.
Simmonds is a UFA after this year. Rent him as Bo's winger. Get Ferkland back. That's a much heavier team for the playoffs.
Would NJ take Sven and a prospect/pick?

Cap and asset wise, are we in a position to add? I'd rather Benning stand pat and not make a mistake mortgaging the future anymore than what they have done already with adding Miller. It's not our time yet.
Speaking of Sven, I feel sorry for the kid. Right out of the gate in his career he was anointed The One by the Lames, and the pressure for him to become a super star for them right away hampered his development significantly. He was quite serviceable for us during the lean years, but the realities of being a cap team and the development of our youth pushed him aside. He was a victim of circumstances throughout his career.

We are not buyers this year. We are sellers.
Sell Baertschi for picks/pucks
Sell Erickson for picks/pucks
That's it.

Neither of those guys will return a pick unless Elmer sends out a much higher pick attached to them. They are both negative value. Eriksson is big time negative value.
No to Black Wayne. He is tough but he skates like a 50 year old Dana Murzyn

If he could have played like he did three years ago, or even two, he's still be playing with the Canucks and Eriksson would be sitting.
Something went amiss with he and Green. Personally, I think he wanted to keep playing with Horvat.
Like you say; he had problems in Calgary too. (with the way he thought he was treated.)...

No action in here, considering how close the trade deadline is.
I like Jake on the top line, and with Lind, Bailey, MacEwen, Podkolzin and Hoglander in the pipeline, the Canucks have most of their top prospects available on RW, sooooo....
Trade Brock Boeser for Noah Dobson
Then trade either Tanev for a first or Stecher for a second whichever won't resign at the price the Canucks want to offer.
Fuck thats bold!
I like both moves but nobody will pay the 2nd for stetcher
Brock is in a slump. He is Pettersson's best friend. He will not be in a slump permanently. I've looked around and seen many trade Boeser
scenarios for whatevers. This is no different. ND could still bust. For the first time, this new Canuck team has got it's own identity.
I shouldn't get frustrated because I know there is no-way Benning moves Boeser. Not unless "he" asked.
Fact is, Brock is on the 3rd line right now. As long as Virtanen is playing with Petey and Miller (and he's looked good there more times than not), and the Horvat line doesn't look like it will be broken up any time soon, the 3rd line is where Brock is going to be.
Brock needs a playmaker on his line. Gaudette and Roussel are not playmakers. Gaudette can snipe and he's getting better at defending, but making plays to skilled wingers is not something he has shown. Not going to bet that he ever will. Sutter is no better.
One of Gaudette or Sutter should go. Sutter may not garner much return. Gaudette might.
This is where a trade for someone like Sam Reinhart would make sense. The kid has playmaking ability and fits the age bracket. A line of Boeser-Reinhart-Leivo/Ferland would make it a decent 2nd line and bump Horvat/Parson/Eriksson to a good 3rd line. Trade Gaudette, Goldobin and a mid-pick. Buffalo would get a centre who can replace Marcus Johansson; the rest of their centre depth behind Eichel is either close to 30 or only going past it. Goldobin wouldn't be any worse than any other winger Buffalo has in his age cohort that's playinig in the NHL now. It's not like Buffalo is contending. Take out the fact of where Reinhart was drafted - he has under-performed his draft ranking, and Gaudette would make them younger at centre and give them a skilled winger who just needs a change of scenery.
A straight-up hockey trade that could work for Buffalo and Vancouver. Who woulda thought?

So your a team in need of some NHL players (Detroit or Ottawa for examples), and you won't give a 4th or 5th for a stabilizing middle 6 winger to help your team through a rebuild??
We can retain on Erickson, his cap hit can help,a team getnto themcap floor.

I don’t see any teams giving up a pick for Eriksson. Maybe at 3 million retained. But pretty sure I read somewhere that Aqua is not willing to retain to get rid of a guy.
Teams can pick up an Louie or Sven caliber player for 1 million in the summer and then flip that guy for a pick.

We're stuck with Eriksson for the duration.
Might as well just accept it and buy a 21 jersey. Celebrate the suffering like those prince albert freaks

ok fellas what would it take to get Toffoli?
Miller-Petey-Virtanen
Ferland-Horvat-Boeser
Pearson-Gaudette-Toffoli
Roussel-Beagle-Sutter
LE
I'd say Motte, Schaller and Levio. Not that anyone wants these 3 for Toffoli, but all 3 are in his way due to cap and roster spots. Option 2 would be to grab him in the off-season, but, imo, you have him slotted into one of our rookie's spots. Or, to quote Grapes, "Hey You People, You dance with the girl that brung ya", and we don't make any trades.

That is solved by paying him to play in the minors. That is basically the same, except you retain 100%. I can see not wanting to make a habit of retaining, but in Loui's case, how could you not?

Is the Wayne Train seriously coming to Van?
Looking over his numbers he sure looks like hes on a rapid decline.

Gawd, I hope not. I don't know what void we have in this team that he fills. Ericksson is already filling our much needed "over-paid air thief" void.
(p.s. 11 cents to whomever names where "much needed void" is from)

I forget if I posted this but July 1st Eriksson finally loses his full NTC and submits a 15 team no trade list, I imagine he'll be moved then to a cheap owner team like the Sens who will be freeing up millions of cap space and need to reach the cap floor. I'm sure a handful of teams will be checking in to see what it'll take to dump some contracts on them.
Eriksson might be the best bang for the buck there after his bonus is paid - his salary for next season is $1M with a $6M cap hit.
Then can be exposed to Seattle.
If still a Senator, is paid $1M bonus 2021, $3M salary then UFA and at least he can still play a top 9 role effectively for them unlike the IR players they've had.
