Photos can be quite misleading. Here is a photo of seemingly packed English Bay Beach from yesterday. Vancouver people do not like to sit close to stanger on the beach even before the pandemic.

There's something off with the Russian numbers....

242,271 cases and only 2,212 deaths...?

Compare to the UK's 226,463 known cases and 32,692 official deaths (the real number is more than 40K, when you include the dead in homes for the elderly). Or Canadas 71,157 cases with 5,169 dead.

Either the Russians are testing a hell of a lot more than everyone else, have a more robust population or are manipulating the numbers.

edit: OK, to be fair, they have tested nearly 6,000,000 people, which is a lot. That is three times as many tests as the British have had and five times as many as Canada, but it still doesn't explain the disparity in deaths. The British have 15 times more corona deaths, even by using their under reported official numbers, and say that Canada would have detected five times as many cases if you had performed five times as many tests (you wouldn't, because testing is not random), that would mean you had 50% more cases than Russia but 150% more deaths. It just doesn't add up.

Per, given the accuracy of tests, test numbers are greatly misleading. Administering tests to healthy people or asymptomatic people when the test has a very high variability with those subjects, is a waste of time, energy and resources.
