Here's a good one for ya...

Jesper Wallstedt just beat the high flying Stars in round 1 & is 4-2 in the post season with a 2.05 GAA & a .924 save %.

How did the Wild obtain him?

2021 draft day trade.

To the Wild......Wallstedt

To their trading partner....

22 o/a pick .... Xavier Bourgault (currently in Sens farm system)

90 o/a pick .... Luca Munzenberger (currently plays in Germany)

.....and yes, that would be the Edmonton Oilers who made that deal.

That's not quite fair. To the Wild went the 20 O.A. pick, which they used to select Wallstedt.

So it's not like Wallstedt was established as an AHL star on the rise or something like that at the time of the trade.

Sigh...yes...sorry....journalistic license chosen to keep it concise.

Point being the Oil could have had Wallstedt instead of Bourgault (a centre...with McDavid and RNH in house already).....perhaps trying to draft and develop a goalie would have served them better
in conclusion....

And boy we're they wrong.

Your point was well taken, btw, they needed as many bullets in the chamber as possible when comes to goaltending.

Nucks mgmt & ownership luv to hire the ladies in important roles, why not be the first to hire a female NHL Head Coach? She can "motivate" players like no other dood Head Coach can. What happens in the locker room, stays int he locker room. And hey, EP40 luvs his blondes, she would be the seceret recipe to get him back to his A game.

The doods here would luv her. More doods will go the games. They can introduce her in a press conference wearing a Nuck's jersey over some sexy underwear just for Donny.

Will ahe jump up and down after every goal?
It'd be hard to watch the games with the TV covered in goo.

I had Scooter and OEL's buyout, but I suppose Demko and Chytl could be tossed in there and I forgot Meyers

I'm still too sickened to check out how silly they're behaving out there in Leafland, but curious if the thought of landing McDavid became a little more realistic now that they can offer a package involving McKenna. Not sure what more they'd have to add other than Nylander or Knies but could be intriguing.

If I'm in Oil country and there's a hint of McD wanting out, there are worse possibilities out there if you can start the post McD era with a young McK. I'd also look into SJ and their wealth of goodies now that another 2nd OA fell on their lap. From an SJ point of view, McD and Mack could mean instant Cup within the next several years. A possibility I would definitely pursue. These freakin' lottery balls opened up some serious possibilities for these teams if they wanna get creative and have the balls to pull off something bold.

Edm is probably not there yet and will wanna give it at least one more go, but they gotta start doing some forward thinking sooner than later with that aging core. Like the Hughes trade for us, anything involving McD is most certainly going to wind up in a loss. A reality they may have to face. Best to get something good while you can if his future there is in question. They also have many other tradable assets to turn over a new core quickly without having to face a long drawn out rebuild.

Some early morning spitballing.

Chatter is still that Matthews wants out of TO so move him to get McDavid!

McDavid for Matthews and the 2026 1OA.

Matthews won't stay in EDM so then flip him somewhere in the states to bolster the blueline and find a goalie. Both would have to waive their NMCs so you'd have to manufacture the deal and then get them to sign off on it. So find out where Matthews will be willing to accept a trade to.

LA, Seattle, Utah?

Could probably get a stellar package out of LA who's looking to replace Kopitar.
