Totally agree. There are deals to be made. As I said a few times the Islanders and Canes have a wealth of talent on the back end. Im glad they didn’t land the millstone that’s will be OEL. Good player but he would have fucked the cap up big time in the future with no retention.

Haydn Fleury, Jake Bean, Mackenzie Weegar, Devon Toews... guys like this should be where we are shopping. If they want to go big game hunting, then get a guy closer to 25 or 26.... instead of pushing 30. Hampus Lindholm or Ryan Pulock. I’d take either over OEL. I can’t see the Ducks moving Lindholm unfortunately.

Apparently Columbus is now offering up Savard, he'd be sweet to have on the right side.

There are plenty of ways to go here, patience is key...
He'd fill a D spot very well for us, there will be plenty of decent players available. I don't get the hysterics we're witnessing, people need to calm down. I thought Iain McIntyre was going to have ab aneurism on twitter last night over the whole Ekman-Larsson affair.

Time to offer sheet Cernak.

Agreed. Plenty of fish in the sea.

Which will reward the patient, prepared angler...

What the hay, why not try it eh. Tampa is in a heck of a bind right now. They might not be able to match.

His ability to block out the chatter in this town is impressive. I'd be a basket case after about two weeks.

Or Pulock. Islanders have to get Barzal, Towes, and Pulock signed with $9 million to work with but they're still in better shape than the Canucks.

Pulock is a damn good player. Right age, RH shot, can play in all situations. Yeah the Islanders are going to have to shed some $$ to get Barzal inked long term. Sweet Lou has kinda butchered up their cap too.

I like Strangelove's poaching of David Savard better given our cap crunch. The 'Jackets have been literally giving away decent young defencemen on not terrible contracts. I have to think we're going to see more of that upcoming as owner's non hockey businesses continue to bleed.

What I like about Pulok and especially Cernak is they're younger so a way better downline fit than a Savard. Beggars can't be choosers though and even then unless they find a way to dump some dollars, I'm not sure how they accomplish replacing Tanev and Stecher while accommodating Gaudette and Virtanen.

David Savard is not that dissimilar to Tanev.

Yeah, I agree about acquiring younger talent, I'm just worried about offer sheet cost. Gaudette I'm ready to move on from if we aren't prepared to see if he can play wing. Jake I would like to sign, but I would trade for a defender without much hesitation.

I have said all along, the best course is to take our lumps this season and let the contract anchors expire by natural causes.
