I have been listening to Tommy and Quadrophenia a lot lately in my travels.

Townshend as a song writer is legit.

Tommy is going on my list....not sure what's coming off but Tommy is in.

I can't recall how many times I've seen them as I sit in this GD airplane today (a good number) but in their younger days, imo, they blew Jagger and Richards off the stage.

I am perhaps repeating myself and we may have talked about this before and Corn indicated he wasn't impressed at the time maybe??

Nothing wrong with repeating yourself it's kind of a theme around here at times.

As for The Who - I agree that those are great albums - I would put Who's Next in that mix as well (maybe the more consistent of them all?). Tommy is a great album, story, and well executed. The movie is a little forced and dated, but still a fun watch. Quadrophenia? Great, great album. Some truly outstanding cuts. I'll always remember watching the movie in the theatre when it came out, and when the *spoiler alert* scooter went over the cliff, I had never heard a room so quiet.

Yeah - I'm a fan of the Who - but they weren't the same band after Moon left.

A little anecdote.

Music critic Nik Cohn was provided an early listen to Tommy demos for his thoughts.

He deemed it "a bit dark"....

Townshend replied...."would you like it better if it had Pinball in it then?"...

To which Cohn laughingly replied..."of course"...

So in the song Christmas some of the lyrics, which were originally about Tommy engaging in some "solo" activities, were changed to gently suggest a pinball prowess (playing poxy pinball) and, as well, the song Pinball Wizard was born.....

...and Corn, any movie, however quirky, with old school Ann Margaret in soaking wet, tight fitting garb gets a thumbs up from over here.

Any mention of that movie, and that is the scene that immediately comes to mind.
