Kane’s contract is done at the end of the season. They can’t trade Scooter now until the season is over.

If they use up all their slots they couldn't retain til what...July 1 is it? If they want to trade him before then they couldnt

Not sure if there’s any loopholes there. Players don’t get paid during the playoffs, so it’s a case of owning the rights but not owing any money.

I actually thought there were ways to trade a player after the deadline but they're ineligible to dress for the playoffs

Teams that miss the playoffs can trade with each other after the regular season ends.
