I just heard George Leraque being interviewed by the edmonton radio and he says Jesperi Kataniemi will only ever be a 3rd line center at best

He does colour either on tv or the radio for the Habs too so he knows the player. Ha!

How do you know how bad it is/isn't?

There are currently 23 players listed as "unfit to play".

These are sort of confirmed, in a way. The others could be anything.
But; Your right, it could be way worse.
------
Not to focus on what ifs, but what if the Canucks were to lose to the Wild and then it goes off the rails and is nixed?

Or was it you that mentioned that scenario?

Playins are to determine which teams qualify for the playoffs.

Playoffs nixed or not, if Canucks lose to Wild, they keep the pick and are in the Laffy Lotto.

What’s this got to do with Around the league?

I had no idea POCO was such a source of bad shit. Goes to show that growing up in East Van was a bubble. No outsiders allowed without family creds. World is rather strange. Sounds like you guys were taking it to the edge. Alright.

Jeremy Roenick Sues NBC Sports for Anti-Straight Discrimination in Firing

Roenick was fired by NBC Sports back in February after he made sexually suggestive remarks about colleagues Kathryn Tappen and Patrick Sharp on a podcast.

Roenick’s lawsuit states that figure skating commentator Johnny Weir made “colorful commentary” about skaters’ body parts for NBC Sports during the 2018 Winter Olympics, and when Roenick asked his supervisor about that, the supervisor responded that Weir “is gay and can say whatever.” Roenick’s suit also points to a promotional video featuring Weir and on-air partner Tara Lipinski that included vulgar language; Weir and Lipinski were not suspended or fired.

Roenick also claims that he was fired because the network was retaliating against him for his support of President Donald Trump. When he asked for permission to speak at the 2016 Republican National Convention, he alleges he was told: “You know who you work for. You work for NBC. That would not look good on your NBC record.”
So the allegations are of the heterophobic Trump-hating variety.

Interesting...

Rangers’ Brendan Lemieux suspended for two Stanley Cup qualifier games
New York Rangers forward Brendan Lemieux has been suspended for two Stanley Cup Qualifying games for interference on Colorado Avalanche winger Joonas Donskoi.

The hit in question occurred on March 11, right before the NHL season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lemieux hit Donskoi late in the game right after the Finnish forward scored for the Avalanche.

Avalanche are back at Pepsi Center this morning as training camp 2.0 marches on. Still no sign of D Cale Makar, who will appear to miss a third consecutive practice, re: "unfit" to play. Jared Bednar unable to comment further, per NHL policy in the pandemic.

Nathan MacKinnon revealing a promising detail during today’s Zoom call with the media:
“I think Cale will be healthy and he should be back soon.”
Scott MacDonald@0ffScottFree
Upon reviewing the footage, the actual wordage MacKinnon uses is:
“I think Cale will be healthy soon, he should be ready to go.”
But you get the point. Either way, good news.
