So you invented that idea right?

So California's Governor said that until a vaccine is in place no large gathering, so does this mean no NHL until ????
The governor said he doesn't envision any mass gatherings at sporting events or concerts until there is a vaccine and sufficient herd immunity.

Out of curiosity, anyone have opinion as to when they will kibosh the season? I’m thinking (no hoping) that they have a drop dead day of May 15 for the current season. I have a feeling they’ll drag it out a bit further though.

I think all the sports leagues are eager to get going. For basketball and hockey the playoffs are happy money season for the owners. These guys are reluctant to give up the money. The sensible thing to do for both leagues would be to end their respective seasons and get ready for next season. We could still be social distancing then, or again, whatever the case may be, and I think creating a plan to safely hold the season next year is more important than squeezing in a playoffs that will forever have an asterisk in the record book. But as friends of Donald they will want to support their president and get back to normal.

If I was laying odds, I'd say we will have the playoffs in the least, preceded by exhibition games to get the players back into game shape.

And the players.

Don't forget the NHL players get 50% of all revenues.

They don't get paychecks during the playoffs, but that 50% of playoff revenue is yuge!

(they effectively get that preemptively over the course of the season)

(any amount they end up with over that 50% must be paid back - escrow)

So yeah, the players are also "reluctant to give up the money".

Think about that the next time you hear one of them say how much he wants the playoffs to happen.

True, and there is more in the playoffs but a significant part of that is from higher priced "sold out" arenas.

Some of that revenue may have to made up with higher streaming and TV viewing costs to consumers but they / we, will only pay so much.

I sure hope everyone can agree on something. The players have to feel safe too. A very few did get sick. They are just as frightened as

anyone now, you can tell by the interviews. They do want to play though. Next two weeks will tell much I think.

Not sure if this is a leak or a rumor. I did hear that Trump didn't bother to ask Trudeau's opinion on sports.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!
