The NHL officially extends self isolation for all players until May 1.
Out of curiosity, anyone have opinion as to when they will kibosh the season? I’m thinking (no hoping) that they have a drop dead day of May 15 for the current season. I have a feeling they’ll drag it out a bit further though.
I think all the sports leagues are eager to get going. For basketball and hockey the playoffs are happy money season
for the owners. These guys are reluctant to give up the money.
And
the players.
Don't forget the NHL players get 50% of all revenues.
They don't get paychecks during the playoffs, but that 50% of playoff revenue is yuge!
(they effectively get that preemptively over the course of the season)
(any amount they end up with over that 50% must be paid back - escrow)
So yeah,
the players are also "reluctant to give up the money".
Think about that the next time you hear one of them say how much he wants the playoffs to happen.

But as friends of Donald they will want to support their president and get back to normal.
The players are friends of Donald!
(well some of 'em)
(not me though Wids, I swear!)
