Of course there will be a draft! The league wants leverage.
And for the kids? Not having a draft would be great for them. They would all be UFA and could pick and choose which team to play for. Er... the good ones that is. The ones going in the first two rounds especially.

The idea that the draft is good for the kids is weird. I mean, they are happy when they get drafted, because they want to play in the NHL, but they would be far better off if there was no draft.

The draft is like all employers ganging up and telling you where you should work and for what salary.
It’s really a huge violation of anti-trust legislation, but for some reason law enforcement in North America turns a blind eye.
In Europe the courts have decided that teams cannot own rights to players not under contract. Which makes sense.

It seems every team is paying their part time arena staff except one.... you guessed it, the bruins.

Not sure where to put this, but presumably 22-yo d-man Johannes Kinnblad now has offers from at least eight NHL teams.

He has flown a bit under the radar, has not made the cut for the WJC, was never drafted. He was dropped by Brynäs three years ago as he didn't make their cut, so instead signed up for Timrå. He was onboard as they managed to get promoted to the SHL, and played there for them last season. Then transfered to HV71 as Timrå was demoted again and played for them this past season, producing 40 points (11+29) in 51 games in the SHL. That's very good numbers for a young d-man!

Thus the sudden interest for this undrafted gem.

I do not know which eight teams are involved, but Calgary talked to him last year already, and apparently Washington is also in the mix.

Nothing to do with corona, apparently it happened after they removed a tumor.

Here's hoping he recovers.
