Ya, true (a bit), but good that Utica will potentially get a couple new guys to replace Baertschi and Goldobin. (geez, spell-check doesn't like those names).

Micky wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2020 12:03 pm If it true that there will probably be no NHL championship awarded for this year, 19/20, will there be a draft? I guess there cannot but that will
make things very complicated in regards to placement of players. Not really fair to the young guys not to have a draft, particularly the ones
that might and in most cases, would be drafted next season.

Now if they figured out a way to have a draft this year by conference calls instead of interviews, etc. Na! I don't see it. Not to mention that
the selection process for teams would have to roll every team's point total to where they were at 68 points.
If they cannot hold one, think of the extra riches for 2021.
I guess that first wouldn't be ours, or would it?
Of course there will be a draft! The league wants leverage.
And for the kids? Not having a draft would be great for them. They would all be UFA and could pick and choose which team to play for. Er... the good ones that is. The ones going in the first two rounds especially.

The idea that the draft is good for the kids is weird. I mean, they are happy when they get drafted, because they want to play in the NHL, but they would be far better off if there was no draft.

The draft is like all employers ganging up and telling you where you should work and for what salary.
It’s really a huge violation of anti-trust legislation, but for some reason law enforcement in North America turns a blind eye.
In Europe the courts have decided that teams cannot own rights to players not under contract. Which makes sense.

It seems every team is paying their part time arena staff except one.... you guessed it, the bruins.

https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/nhl-bos ... rena-staff
Forbes lists the Bruins as the fifth-most valuable franchise in the NHL in its latest rankings, valued at $1 billion. Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs, meanwhile, is one of the 500 richest people in the world, with a net worth of $3.2 billion according to Forbes.

The Bruins are well within their right not to pay hourly staff, who won’t be the only people to lose income during the coronavirus pandemic. But the decision not to pay TD Garden staff is clearly a marketing blunder, if nothing else.

While working hockey games is a side hustle for some, there are many people who rely on it as a primary source of income.

“This experience has been hell for me personally,” a server at a TD Garden restaurant told the Boston Herald. “My biggest fear is always being homeless again.”

Not sure where to put this, but presumably 22-yo d-man Johannes Kinnblad now has offers from at least eight NHL teams.

He has flown a bit under the radar, has not made the cut for the WJC, was never drafted. He was dropped by Brynäs three years ago as he didn't make their cut, so instead signed up for Timrå. He was onboard as they managed to get promoted to the SHL, and played there for them last season. Then transfered to HV71 as Timrå was demoted again and played for them this past season, producing 40 points (11+29) in 51 games in the SHL. That's very good numbers for a young d-man!

Thus the sudden interest for this undrafted gem.

I do not know which eight teams are involved, but Calgary talked to him last year already, and apparently Washington is also in the mix.

Still listed as a real light weight. Bout half a Doyle--150 pounds. Don't know how that works in the bigs.

I wonder if Donald Brashear kept his gig at Tim Horton’s with the COVID19 virus spreading rapidly and forcing many people out of work...

That pic was taken of him a few days ago.

They told him he had to wear a mask.

He misunderstood.

Colby Cave of the Oilers has suffered a stroke and is in intensive care in a coma.
Nothing to do with corona, apparently it happened after they removed a tumor.

Here's hoping he recovers.

Sucks. Not like he did something stupid - like a lot of other mid-20 dudes who die. Meant to be, I guess, but sucks nonetheless.

Bearchia can play centre, I wonder if the Oilers would be interested?
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.
