So the Minnenavians in question are supporting illegals? Good to know.

I'd have to assume that since Scandinavians are from a cold climate, they don't need ice. But, Somalia is a hot climate. Never too much Ice.
Prove me wrong

”When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt; I am the LORD your God.”
Leviticus 19:33-34
But I guess traditional Judeo-Christian values aren’t really in vogue among the MAGA people.
It's kind of weird when an atheist like myself has to take a stand for Christian core values.

I am an atheist as well, and I can easily argue the word "resides" does not include people who have invaded, or illegally came to your land.
The USA has always been the beacon for people looking for a better country, but it doesn't mean you break into the country. The USA has always been very welcoming to legal immigrants and visitors, welcoming around 800,00 new citizens a year. And, the USA has always deported millions of illegal entrants every year.
The optics the last 12 months have been terrible, but it's the same program that Obama and Biden ran.
The biggest difference I have seen is the invention of the "sanctuary city" concept, claiming cities and states can over-ride the Feds on federal issues, which they legally can't do.

You are misinterpreting that.

I don't know how some of you interpret the term "illegals" - but this current administration is including refugees / asylum seekers (who have status as such), those with "Temporary Protected Status" (they're trying to revoke that or have for some), those with DACA status and other 'legal' statuses.
I think most on this board would agree that people who cross the border with no legal status should be sent back. Those with any kind of legal status who commit a serious crime should be sent back, etc.
Should an adult who was brought here 'illegally' by his parents when he was 1 be deported now that he has grown up, started a life, got a job, and is a contributing member of society? The DACA program has been drawn out so long and just become another political football.
So the difference in opinion seems to be how those with legal status or in legal limbo should be treated if they haven't broken any laws.
Then you have people like the extortion suspects suddenly claiming refugee status. Seems that if they're convicted, they should be sent back. But in the meantime, it's a legal nightmare for prosecutors.

+1 Corn.
The individual brought here illegally at 1, who has lived in the US for 20 years, should be given a pass.
His parents? That's a grey area for me. They came illegally, therefore they are illegal and know it. But if they've been here 20 years, and have been "good citizens" then sure look into them. Round them up for interviews, but do your homework first so that the interview can be a pathway to permanent residency or citizenship.
I'll play both sides here though.....
If you go with the route of leniency after a certain time has passed, then you open the door for that to be exploited.

I’m in agreement with you Mëds, that’s more complicated.
But can you get a job and pay taxes without a social serial number? Don’t you have to prove you are legally allowed in the country to get one?

In the States:
Immigrants, including those without lawful status, can and are required to pay federal income taxes in the United States. While a Social Security Number (SSN) is required for formal, salaried employment and accessing social benefits, immigrants without one can work as independent contractors and pay taxes using an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
