Looks like the Flames have dipped into the Vancouver radio market again for their new pbp guy replacing ex Canucks radio announcer Rick Ball:
The Calgary Flames have announced Jon Abbott as their new play-by-play announcer on Sportsnet. Abbott will replace Rick Ball, who recently joined the Chicago Blackhawks. Abbott will join a seasoned broadcast team that includes analysts Kelly Hrudey and Greg Millen with host Ryan Leslie as the Flames gear up for the 2024-2025 NHL season.
Also, Drysaddle's demand to get a deal done by the end of August looks like it might not come to fruition. Looks like there is still a big gap between what the Oilers are offering and what Drysaddle is demanding.
I haven't listened to him much but he didn't seem too bad. He's a pro.
He's no Rick Ball though. Baller is one of my favorites.
Was watching the highlights from the Calgary/Edmonton game and was wondering if the significance of Stuart Skinner’s jersey number is the mark he sets for his save percentage.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Sounds like Brzustewicz had a pretty good outing in the Flames preseason game. 2 assists and a solid game.
I just watched him play Abby twice over the weekend and he looked pretty decent. Smart with the puck. Tiny sample of course, way to early to even hazard a guess as to what he's going to be.
