Yeah...I commented here a couple of weeks back that it is not beyond the realm of possibilities that our guys could be the top 2 centre's on that team this year.

I think it’s a fine list.

Toss in Zeev, and you’ve got a broad young nucleus to build a core.

If RJ could pull a dart er-diamond or two out of the later rounds…

Let's give Todd Harvey & staff credit where/if credit is due.
Even Rutherford said a couple of the later round picks need to hit for the rebuild to progress at a decent rate.

You think about it, that 2011 squad had a number of players picked past the first round - or not at all - playing significant parts on the team. Bieksa, Hansen, Raymond, Edler and Burrows make you realize how good/lucky the organization was in hitting on bets past the first round. It would be nice to see a D-Petey and/or Rogowski develop into those roles in a contender.

Really hoping sushi can come to camp healthy, in shape & ready to go. His development has been a little behind due to injury and illness so this should be a very important season for him to show he's got the goods to be a everyday NHLer.
Karlsson should continue the improvement he began to show last season.

Yeah agree on Lekk, fingers crossed, we shall see, he can shoot the hell out of the puck for sure, we need to see if his size hampers him against NHL D men full time...also whether his shoulder is now an afterthought or a career issue...

....Karlsson is 27 in November though....he will reach peak growth not incredibly far beyond what we see/can surmise as developmental limits I imagine, especially when considering his skating as it applies to the current day game.

This does not mean he is not a serviceable player.

Just limited, which when reviewing our RW depth is not a great characteristic.

I am skeptical on Sushi because I don't love the profile of the player (slender, shooting top attribute, lacking grit). But operating within that profile (which is a tough one to get NHL success from but when it happens, its a hard-to-find-elsewhere player), I don't think he should be written off because of last season. He's had AHL success despite the development interruptions. And there's a good chance these are interruptions, not a sign there's no more development to be had. The real issue for me is what it has always been -- there's a load of guys who can be top line AHL players who can't make a dent in the NHL because skills don't scale linearly.

I agree on Sushi. That slight build is too Mason Raymond and even if he's a success he may disappear when it matters most. That said, in the NHL games I've seen he has shown a lot of poise, holding on to the puck and making the right play rather than dumping the puck or putting a teammate in a bad position. Best case may be we sell high on him. Hope RJ has the balls and smarts to make such moves.
