Just noticed on the socials that RJ Celebrini is draft eligible in 2030.

Do we have someone in the front office finally playing chess?

If he's eligible in 2030 he'd have to be projected after 10 for us to have a shot at him, provided NYR gives up the pick that year.

If so, it's like the stars are aligned for equilibrium in the Nuckerverse.

We draft the youngest brother of three with one already in the system and hopefully on the team if all goes well by then. The best of the three wishes to join his bros when his next contract is up, which will be a while but worth the wait if a trade can't get it done sooner.

A familiar scenario where this time we are the benefactors and not the victims.

It's just too good. I mean, can "RJ" be a better omen? Not to mention getting the pick from NYR of all teams with the whole JT Miller fiasco that helped spawn the chain of events that lead us here. And of course it has to be Marcus Pettersson that goes back (only thing more perfect maybe would've been the other Pettersson).

It's all aligned so perfectly, it's meant to be. Fits my 8 year timeline for a Cup ;) .

The JT Miller trade chain is going to get long. I always like a good trade chain. I think the Canucks win the trade now with the 2030 1st rounder.

Miller ……………………1st Rounder………..Meaty………….1st Rounder (2030)………….?
Dorrington ……………Mancini
Brannstrom ………….Chytil

Miller will be in the last year of his contract by 2030. Can’t see him back checking at all by then.
Rags will suck bad if he is still on the team. My guess is the Canucks will get the unprotected 3031 pick.

The Canucks have already completed their scouting.
“With the 1st (Rags) and 2nd (Nucks) overall picks in the 2031 draft the Vancouver Canucks are proud to select Daniel and Lucas Hansen.” Twin Honey Badgers!

It's quite shocking to see how far JT Miller's game has cratered. He was a helluva player for Van before "the troubles"

I don’t think even Miller understood then how much he needed a coach like Tocchet. The extreme opposite of the Dickless Swede but the same amount of coaching time and effort to get his head screwed-on right.

It really makes you wonder how the team achieved what they did that one season under Tocchet. What a mirage that was. In fact, “mirage” would describe that core to a ‘T’.

Goaltending wasn't a mirage. Not that great goaltending alone can make an average team great but it had a lot to do with the success of that team. Just a damn shame we could never count on the health and what could've been if we could've seen 'Bubble Demko' against the Oil and possibly beyond.

But I agree that team was too overrated to do anything special beyond that.

Bluger on his last season with the Canucks:

“I think about the importance of team cohesion and culture — what makes a team tick, and what makes guys come together to play at their best. The goal for any team is to find that balance where players care about each other enough to sacrifice themselves for the good of the team, and figuring out how to get everyone on the same page.

“Something I took for granted early in my career in Pittsburgh, with Sid setting the tone, was practice habits: the discipline of showing up on time, and being respectful to each other, the trainers, and the staff. When you take each thing on its own, it seems like a small thing. But when you add them all up, it creates an environment within the facility that is huge. It has to be a positive environment where everyone can be themselves and come to work every day excited and upbeat, instead of down or in a negative mindset. That makes all the difference.

“It’s just little things like that, and finding ways to navigate them. I think that’s the kind of stuff you carry with you your whole life, even past your hockey career.”

This is similar to what Schenn had to say about a winning culture. What sticks out from both of them is the emphasis on liking each other and wanting to be around each other.

Too bad one's gone and the other is temporary. Hopefully Schenn and Gallagher are here long enough to leave an impact in the room to linger beyond their time here. No doubt they'll be rotating short term veteran culture carriers the next half dozen years in lieu of any mainstays currently on the roster. If they can't find a more longterm solution in free agency the next couple of years, it's something they might need to trade for hopefully without sacrificing much in way of draft capital.

I'm thinking that Buium and a couple of the other kids will help spread the news. When Cootes arrives, I'm sure he'll have plenty to say.

IF ExtraPouty40 shows up to camp not ready to embrace this new outlook, it will be another miserable season for him. It's his choice.

The leadership group will inevitably start to form from the youngsters over the next couple of years, but them taking full ownership of the team likely won't happen for several more years beyond that. It's a great start to have kids in the fold that appear to have a lot of character and leadership qualities in Caleb, Braeden, Tom and Seev. We'll have to see if they all get along well, become best of friends and form a tight unit that care for each other like a family for the next decade (the polar opposite of the last group). That's one of the key ingredients in forming championship teams. Hard to tell but I can't imagine this group not coming together. It's important for them to have savvy vets lead the way in the meantime.

I'm interested to see Rossi this year.

He was really very good post Olympic break and has 2 years @ 5 mill to prove himself on a rebuilding club.

He could set up the entire rest of his career over the next 168 games.

Does he have the nuts to be an on ice/off ice leader and earn himself a big ticket.

He bet on himself signing 3x5 with the Wild.

If he man's up and is a 60 - 70 point 200 foot second line centre with a voice who gets at least a solid portion of his points at the right times he could be one of those guys until Caleb Cootes et al come along.

A lot of Rossi's success will likely depend on how healthy Brock's dog is next season.

Totally agree. I didn't think too much of him when he first arrived even fully knowing we had to give him benefit of doubt with the injury issues. But yeah, super noticeable after the break. Particularly excellent on the PP.

There just might be something there. 9OA after all so maybe he's arriving at just the right time. A perfect bridge for our future 2 & 3Cs. And hopefully he continues to progress to net us a sweet return when the others are ready in 2/3 yrs.
