Re: Who Do U Want to See as Next GM of the Nucks?
I don't know enough about Ryan Johnson to have an opinion, except to note that it seems like a big jump from his previous responsibilities.
I do like the Sedins as co-presidents, though. When looking for hockey executives, most teams emphasize knowledge of the game, and the specifics of the way things work in this League, and certainly those are important, but I think that they tend to undervalue raw intellectual horsepower. I think that the Sedins are two of the smartest people who have been associated with the Canucks, and as previously noted, their work ethic is unquestionable.
I will dare to hope that they will be able to leverage those assets.

Probably has something to do with those, yeah.

I am on the board as not a fan of the hires but I think this is a fair point RG.Ronning's Ghost wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2026 1:35 pm I think that the Sedins are two of the smartest people who have been associated with the Canucks, and as previously noted, their work ethic is unquestionable.

Wow, Lapierre40's vision for this team literally just appeared right before our eyes and much sooner than expected. He said this a couple months ago b4 end of the season.
I just thought it was a little quick for the Sedins. Maybe they could have worked with JR for a year as senior advisors b4 being given the Presidents title. Oh well, at least they aren't totally green and have been working with the organization all these yrs, not like Trev 16 who came in cold.
Yah looking back, the whole interview process seemed like a joke/sham. I mean, they basically interviewed a bunch of no names and inexperienced doods. I guess there was P.Dorien, but not sure he accomplished much nor is very highly regarded. A guy with an impressive resume like Bergy (Marc Bergivin) wasn't even given a sniff. I guess they just wanted to make it look like they were doing their "due diligence" when RJ was always going to be their guy. I'm fine with that, RJ was my #2 after Bergy.
One thing I am happy about with this new mgmt team, I think Todd Harvey and most of his scouting staff's job should be safe for now. I really like Harvey's work thus far. No real high picks in his tenure, but he seemed to find a few promising players. No real guy that screams bust so far. I am real curious how he'll make out with 5 picks in the first 3 rounds this draft.
And yah, I expect the Sedins & JR to complete the trifecta of Nucks alumni and bring in their boy, Coach Manny.

How about The Steamer? Who else would like to see the ol' Steamer finally be given a non ceremonial role with the franchise to show what he can do? Let's see him implement what he learned from Punch.
let's run it back

Troy Stetcher would give Manny a run for his money as a beloved 4th liner/7th defender high in the heart of fandom.
Is there any other reason folks want Manny or Caleb?

Story goes our new CoPoHo's dropped 1.5 million on Canuck Place post hire.
As with last time this occured it was a surprise to all including AIG.

Would love to hear from an expert in whatever capacity would constitute one regarding whether or not MM knows his tactical shit. The game has evolved to where this is an essential requirement for an NHL bench boss.
An AHL championship is a great start sure but can he oversee systems and strategies that may lead to success once the personnel arrive? Or is as Topps says he just a feel good story?

But not too smart. If they were any smarter, they wouldn't associate with the Canucks.Ronning's Ghost wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2026 1:35 pm
