Yeah...skates well....nice release...soft hands both on dishes and down low.

Possibilities there....

....whomever is drafting might want to be using excess capital to move up if and as possible.

McKenna followed by Malhotra or Lawrence would be a haul....

We can dream....

Get another 1st, bundle and move up.

Wouldn't be the first time we did it.

Lots of EP to Detroit chatter.....

Kasper, Plante a first and a second for EP, Kane and Myers.

Trade Wing and Wild 1st rd picks and a '27 Shark second to move up in '26 draft for Lawrence or Malhotra should the opportunity arise.

Sweeten as needed.

Sounds like a pretty decent scenario...

Scooter can hide behind a 1C and go scootering on the streets anonymously. Zero pressure... for now.

Toxic asbestos removed from the Canucks franchise.

Frankie doesn't have to retain.

Win-win.

Verhoeff Buium could be stellar!!

Good post on draft strategy theroems.....maybe those fucking guys will read it
Willander and Buium look like they can grow into a cracker 2nd pair. Neither have shown to-date that they are top-pair defenders. Willander looks to me a younger, less physical Hamhuis while Buium strikes me as more Lumme than Hughes. These guys do not look like the kind of top-pairing that a contending team would have. You think either of them are going to supplant Hronek while he’s under contract???

If neither Stenberg nor McKenna are there, you take Verhoeff and pray he can fill top-pairing shoes.

McKeen's Detailed Scouting Report: Ivar Stenberg, LW, Frolunda (SHL)

Not going to do a cole's notes this time but I think this report has something for everyone (doubters will note that Stenberg is relatively lacking in physical tools, believers will note that his profile like the Sedins did at the same age).

I think even the issue if we compare Stenberg to the Sedin's is that there is only one of him, and he's not the centre.

Without question part of the Sedin's success was that they were twins, they could push each other year round, play off each other and work together. So should we draft a 1/2 Sedin bro we need to find the key centre to go with him.

Is that Cootes? Do we draft a centre later in the 1st? Is it next year?

Top 3 pick with a projected 15-20 goal potential doesn't really push me in his direction when it comes to our top pick this year.

I get more of a EP40 vibe. How is his 1000 yard stare? Hell, the report has shades of Lekkerimaki, with the kid needing time and space to be efficient. Yah, I know I am being a pessimist, but, he is a small Swede, and we have history with them.

Did history suddenly change re the Sedins?

Canucks fans literally hated and mocked them incessantly for 4-5 years because they weren't strong enough to make space to play their game. When they became men, their unique 2-man game could not be easily targeted by opponents like a smallish winger trying pound the puck into the ice looking for openings.

We already have definitive proof that this model hasn't been working for a long time now... the much aligned shot-blocking "1C", a shrimp with 1g this season, a glass winger who has done well so far in the AHL only. Are we supposed to be excited about Linus Karlsson? Winnings team don't have guys like these.

56 years... let's try something DIFFERENT.

I read that report through the glasses of "how will this guy hold up in the NHL".
Smart ✔️
Playmaker ✔️
Puck Possession ✔️
Vision ✔️✔️

Then there's this paragraph:
When he has time and space to work with, like on the PP, Stenberg is in his comfort zone. He can easily run a PP at the NHL level. However, if there is one criticism to levy against Stenberg, it is that he lives on the perimeter a lot at even strength.
One thing that also stood out was:
At just 18 years old, Stenberg already looks and acts like a consummate pro. Coaches and teammates alike rave about his character. His work rate on and off the ice reflect his drive to improve his game, even with his wild success at the pro level. He also just seems to have that innate ability to raise his game to the next level, to find that 2nd gear when it matters most
After reading that, I got the impression that he's a solid pick and would make an impact at the NHL, but would be one hit away from becoming EP 2.0. Maybe he has more character and personal strength, but being a perimeter player seems like a red flag.

With that said, I won't be surprised when we select him with the 3rd overall pick.

Yah, the Nucks should take these 2 doods/bros/twins if they get a chance in the 2nd/3rd round; we have a bunch of picks around there anyways.

They BC boys and pretty sure heard they Nucks fans and grew up loving the Sedins. If anyone can help develop/coach them to their top potential, it'd be the Sedins. Their coach is none other than Willie D and they have a teammate named Jonas Woo, younger bro of Jet. If all these factors are not a sign, I don't know what is. Do it Ruthy and Patty!

https://www.tankathon.com/nhl/mock_draft

The Tankathon mock draft has Liam Ruck going to Calgary right after the Canucks pick - I can see the flames doing that since they play junior in Alberta.

If the Canucks want the Ruck twins, they probably need to take Liam with their #32 pick and his brother with their other 2nd rounder.

Their second 1st rounder lines up with a batch of centres in that mock draft - Shilov, Roobroeck, Command, Dagenais, Rogowski - which need wise seems like a good idea, though I have zero knowledge who they should take.
