The way they rallied and stood up for Tage last game, Scooter would fit right in.

Maybe tomorrow after coffee?

Lol to whoever said Fantilli might be available. Give your merm a shake. Sure, Bedard and Macklin might be too. The guy that might be available is Cole Sillinger.

^ Hand to God, the first guy I thought of last night when PoC asked "Who?"... was Sam Bennett.
I read something about him possibly being available.
Tocc would love it.

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
Yeah, Chef is hoping for some common sense to rear its sane head with that powers that be that by trading Boeser for a cheaper early 20’s player who can snipe while adding more cap room to go hard after a UFA cat like Bennett is the slick move to do. Did the Panthers shoot their wad on Reinharts contract? What is their cap situation like?
Blob is right, Fantilli is as available as Celebrini is available. I’d remove Kent Johnson from that available list as well, he’s putting together a fair season. Cole Sillinger could be had, his development looks to be stalling, starting to look more and more like a floundering journeyman like his old man was minus the porn stache. There’s still time to grow one.

So....who cares if a floundering journeyman is available? We need a better quality of player than that. I don't have an assessment on Sillinger, just making the point we are at quota for floundering journeyman.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 6:18 am . Anyone think the Jets might have a tough time keeping Vilardi? Maybe his rights can be purchased for a draft pick at the draft?
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
So, we let Boesser walk, and spend his $$ on Vilardi? I can see him asking for $6+. But, I think that the Peg can manage his contract. They have about $5mil + the increase in cap to spend to extend Vilardi, Pionk and Ehlers. That's almost $3mil extra each. They don't have the headaches we do,

I've read Ehlers may want out, can't comment on the reliability of the source

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
They only would have a problem because Winnipeg. They've got the money, there's every incentive for player and team to sign a longer term deal, there's cap room should they wish to use it. About $3.9M in dead cap coming off, $8.1M in third tier priority coming off (Iofallo, Appleton, Namestikov) that is fillable more cheaply in other ways, $6M in Ehlers who they might not have a choice about and if I were them, is a secondary priority to Vilardi and Pionk. Heck, with the season they are having and the roster coming back next year, I'm not even sure they would move Vilardi if things went to a one year arbitration.

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
Canucks Army (take that for what it is) dove deeper into chatter about management not being done, and came up with 23-28 year-old forwards who are on contracts that look bad due to their plateaued development vice cap hit. Their rationalization is that with the newfound cap spa and the pieces they didn't have to use to trade for MP3, management can look to add an impact forward in their mid-20s to replace what they lost in Miller. I don't believe they're done either. Their list of potential targets, though, is a little all over the place.
-Kotkaniemi, 24 at $4.82 AAV
-Dach, 24 at $3.3625 AAV
-Mittelstadt, 26 at $5.75 AAV
-Zegras, 25 at $5.75 AAV
-Cozens, 23 at $7.1 AAV
-Norris, 25 at $7.95 AAV
-Barzal, 27 at $9.15 AAV
-Meier, 28 at $8.8 AAV
-Svechnikov, 24 at $7.75 AAV
I don't think Carolina's dealing either KK or Svechnikov. Mittelstadt, Zegras and Cozens I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.
Would Ottawa part with Norris? Could he reasonably replace Miller's production and two-way play?
I don't think Montreal would let Dach go unless they start getting cap crunched or they're looking to upgrade.
Barzal? That's a steep cap hit. I can still see management doing it, though.
We're not even talking about what pieces would have to go the other way.
If I had to pick, Dach or Norris - but hopefully management has more imagination than this if they're going to replace Miller's spot in the core.

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
That is exactly it…..because Winnipeg. Probably the shittiest 500+k city in North America.
I thought the player had to request arbitration…..
I think the only incentive for him to stay there is because they are doing so well right now. If they choke in the playoffs again though, less likely that there is an overwhelming desire to re-sign there if other offers are possible.

Vilardi is pacing for ~ 32G/75P. He’s 6’3” - 216lbs…..probably looking for at least $8M.
