Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

LINK63% of employees are unable to cover a $500 emergency expense, according to a new survey from SecureSave, a provider of a financial technology platform to help employers provide emergency savings benefits.
Things are a little better up north:
LINKWhen asked whether their household had the resources to cover an unexpected expense of $500, 26% said that they would be unable to do so
Interesting to see how tariffs and other made-up problems help these people.

We seem to have lost the plot as a society when it comes to individual fiscal responsibility. Remember when you were starting out as a teenager or recent graduate? Or whenever you got your first job. You couldn't cover that $500 emergency expense. But if you saved your money responsibly you probably had that available a few months later. Now, a survey like this polls college students in a metro centre who have a part-time job and haven't been off the tit for more than a year. Makes one wonder, of those respondents, how many of them spend $150/month on coffee?Cornuck wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:18 pmLINK63% of employees are unable to cover a $500 emergency expense, according to a new survey from SecureSave, a provider of a financial technology platform to help employers provide emergency savings benefits.

I'm not denying that there are people who would have a very hard time covering that $500 expense because of rising costs of living, but FFS, I know people who make barely more than minimum wage yet they are heading through Starbucks twice a day. They probably eat out (not the way Cuz does) at least once a day. Do the simple math.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

A lot depends on who they're polling of course, but I've seen similar numbers for years.

I didn't have the Florida Panthers save democracy on my bucket list, but you know what, fuck it.
