WJC 2025 in Ottawa
Re: WJC 2025 in Ottawa
So, how did the Canucklings go this tournament? Sounded like Willander had a good one until some ref BS in OT, what about the other two?
Re: WJC 2025 in Ottawa
Willander was the Swedes minute eating defender running the second pairing and playing the top of the umbrella on the 1st unit PP. He definitely had vision of the game around him. I did see a few defensive gaffs in getting back and disturbingly, they looked lazy. I doubt if that can't be addressed, he is a kid. In a word, I'd describe his game as Mature.

Victor Eklund climbed a few rungs on the draft rankings as well as Hensler on team USA. Eklund has a great motor and skill set.
Hagens still holds the 1st overall pick ranking unless you don’t need a centre but need a D, then that goes to Schaefer. Schaefer is neck n neck with Hagens, he was impressive in the short time we saw him. Wish we saw him more.
Martone didn’t do himself any favours in challenging Hagens and Schaefer. He fell down some rungs.
Too bad we didn’t get to see Misa or McQueen.

I think he played forward until he was 13 or 14. I saw a smart player out there. He has good feet, makes a good first pass, and can shoot the puck. H reminds me of Tanev a bit the way he thinks the game. Jonas Brodin with hopefully a bit more physicality.Topper wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 9:59 am Willander was the Swedes minute eating defender running the second pairing and playing the top of the umbrella on the 1st unit PP.
