Early analytics model from EP Rinkside has Oilers and Canucks tied for first in the league with a prediction of 111 points each in their power rankings by JFresh:

https://canucksarmy.com/news/early-anal ... in-2024-25

I can see the top teams in the pacific having league high point totals because the bottom teams in the pacific will be tanking hard - San Jose, Anaheim, and now Calgary will be bleeding points to the rest of the division. Won’t be surprised if the President’s trophy curse falls on whoever wins the pacific division.

The verdict is in regarding Elias Lindholm’s contract: Canucks dodged a bullet

Three Worst Contracts of NHL Free Agency

https://www.si.com/onsi/breakaway/free- ... 20Bergeron.

Gotta agree there. As much as I liked having EL23 to help our centre ice depth, I would have passed on that rumoured 7X7 deal that we offered him as well. I think he's in the caliber of Ryan O'Reilly who signed for like $4.5M just last season. I guess the Bs desperately want a Bergeron replacement and think he's the guy. LIndholm is good and does a lot of similar things, but he's no Bergeron.

As far as Big Zaddy goes, I think he actually has some upside even though he's similar age to EL23. The Bs luv their big dood D-man; but hey, as we all know it worked for them once b4. Gotta luv Zaddy's respect for the game and respect for his peers and greats in the game.
Please do not ever call me ‘Big Z’ now.

According to Twitter and some dude on YouTube, DeBrusk has a stalker. Some crazy chick from Boston who is planning to move to Vancouver to keep stalking him. Apparently, she has been banned from the Gardens, and the Bruins practice arena.

Is it too soon to invite some new crazy to canucks corner? Oh, yeah. Asking for a friend....

Just make sure 'Snoozi doesn't come up with a ghey Jake nickname beforehand, otherwise she may come and knock off each of us here like some Agatha Christie novel. We only got 19 peeps here, ya know.

If this website is accurate, Canucks have just over 165k in cap space with a 23 man roster.

The team pretty much held all the cards, so I suspect that management had no urgency to get a deal done any earlier. I wager they tendered the offer to Silovs' agent sometime before now, the agent explored whatever alternatives remained for his client until finally advising his client that that was the best deal available.

Silovs gets paid as a young journeyman until such time as he beats out the competition to become either the full-time backup to Demko, or Demko's heir-apparent. Two years should do that.
Love the Sport. Love the Team.

Good signing - and gives Sivlos time to prove himself - or move back to Europe. ;)

Still not sure I trust him as a full time backup, and interesting that Tolopilo makes more.

I still think they like him in Abbotsford at least to start the season. There are clear areas he needs to improve in the NHL and I think getting a good number of games in is critical. Having said that if he blows everyone away camp he’ll stay.
