No Bedard they aren’t winning that game, Doyle. You know it, I know it, we all know it

I haven't watched much of this but I caught the winning goal by Bedard.
That was clutch.

Re: World Juniors 2023
It was a great goal. Canada should have been up a few, probably hit 4 posts. Slovak goalie stood on his head. Shots were 61-24. 9 - 3 in overtime with two posts but somehow Canada got dominated.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 7:07 pm I haven't watched much of this but I caught the winning goal by Bedard.

Re: World Juniors 2023
As good as Bedard is, I think Forsberg's record is safe.
To beat it he needs an additional 11 points over two games. It is not impossible, but it's the semifinal plus a medal game, either the final or the bronze game, and it's going to be fierce opposition, so a blowout in either game is unlikely. He'll probably slide into second place though, pushing Markus Näslund down to third.

_2 SWE Markus Näslund... 1993 7 13 11 24

I basically think he has a better shot at becoming the best single tournament goal scorer of all times, but even that will be tough. He has eight now, with two games remaining. Only seven players have scored more than 10, but he needs to score five to tie Näslund and six to set a new record:

Re: World Juniors 2023
If Canada is to win gold they need others to step up. Bedard for all that he has done can’t win gold on his own. If I’m the opposing team I’d just put an Esa Tikkanen shadow on Bedard every moment he is on the ice. I’m sure the US is gonna cut down on his space realizing all of Canada’s offence goes through Bedard and Befard only. Players like Wright and Fantilli really need to step up if they can. I have no issues with Stankoven who outside of Bedard is our best forward. Guenther is pretty a 1 dimensional shooter and Othmann is like your Tyler Toffoli, doesn’t get around fast but is cagey and smart so don’t have issues with his play. Need a big game from others beyond Bedard

Re: World Juniors 2023
The more I watch the new Elias Pettersson the more I like his game. He's gonna end up being an excellent pick for a 3rd rounder
Too bad Lekerimaki is looking to be more of a 3rd round level talent

Pettersson is having a great game so far tonight, including assisting on the lone goal.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 12:58 pm The more I watch the new Elias Pettersson the more I like his game. He's gonna end up being an excellent pick for a 3rd rounder

Sweden is looking much better than in the previous game against Czechia, when we won in ot.
Let’s hope we can keep it up in the third period.

And the Czechs tie after pulling the goalie. Now we’re going into overtime.

Re: World Juniors 2023
I understand the Czech goalie is an in drafted FA, I would sign him.
Also, I am more excited about D Petey than Lekerimaki

Re: World Juniors 2023
The previous game in reverse.
In the group play the Czechs were better but we won.
This time we were better but the Czechs won.
Oh well. Sweden has eleven underage players, probably trying to set the stage for next year in Gothenburg.
And we get to play a bronze game.
Against the Czechs, the Finns and Canada the Swedish players seemed smaller, but they still put up a fight.
Actually beat the Czechs the first time and the Finns in the QF, but we stood no chance against Bedard, and tonight, despite playing well, it wasn’t enough.
Let’s see who we get to play in the bronze game.
And btw, Latvia beat Austria again, so we get to see them in Sweden next year!

Even 3 on 3 Lekerimaki didn't see the ice. The coaches for Sweden have no faith in the kid.

Re: World Juniors 2023
Selecting Lekkerimaki is pure devastation when we need to restock the pool after so many graduations during the Benning years
