Quinn Hughes can play up to 11 games this year without threat of expansion draft. Seemed very sure!

So for crying out loud: Get this kid signed this year !!
If that’s true then he’ll ya I’m all in. Rest assured Benning will have an answer in time to make a decision.
Great news if true! Just in time to push for a playoff spot ;)
Can they sign like that and play in the playoffs? I didnt think they could
Just read up on it and it look like you're right UDL. Players need to be signed up on trade deadline day to be eligible for the playoffs.
I would still sign him, doubt we will make the playoffs anyway but if we do, well, oh well. Could we send him to Utica and play in their playoff run then?
No, I think there's a similar rule for AHL playoff eligibility. I think it used to also be NHL Trade Deadline Day but may be different now; in any case, he won't be signed in time. He'll get signed regardless though; will be nice way to see some excitement at the end of a losing season.

True that.

Hey one thing though...here we are, mired in the middle of a losing season and i cant help but be stoked as fuck for games. Love watching the kids develop...the talent we are rocking these days makes the future bright and the present record almost...inconsequential

I know eh! It's sure is a pleasure watching the beginnings. Kind of like Sedins' early days. Glimpses of what's to come (yeah, it's gonna get even better!).

So our Core: Horvat, Boeser, Pettersson, Shotgun, Quinn (yeah, he's already pencilled in).

Who's next to join? Hutton, Demko, 2019 1st, Dahlen?

My untouchables are: Horvat, Pettersson, Boeser and Hughes

Need a damn good offer: Virtannen, Tanev, Hutton, Beagle (yeah, he sets a great example for the kids, keep him)1st round pick, 1 of Demko and DiPietro

The kids don't quit. They've got a lot of fight in 'em.

He'll be 35 years old then. Sign him for 2 years with a NTC then let the 21-22 expansion draft play out. Then address Edler.

This.

(eh Reef?) :mex:

Keep him around for a couple of years while we work in Hughes/OJ/Tree.

Trade Hutton for a pick this summer while his value is high.

Flush Poo and MDZ...

"Current NHL teams can protect seven forwards, three defensemen and one goalie,
or eight skaters (forwards/defensemen) and one goalie"

Must expose two forwards, one dman & one goalie under contract for 2021-22 and played at least 40 NHL games the prior season or played in at least 70 NHL games in the prior two seasons, and/or is a RFA.

Easy peasy:

PROTECT:
Forwards: Horvat, Boeser, Petey, Virtanen, Gaudette, Leivo, (another forward).

Dmen:
Juolevi, Tryamkin, (another dman).

Goalie: Demko

EXPOSE:
Forwards: Roussel, Beagle, (couple other forwards).

Dmen: Edler and Stecher (depending on Edler's contract).

Goalie: Marky (if he's still around, in all likelihood Markstrom will be traded at the trade deadline 2020 or just becomes a UFA just common knowledge), or sign a vet goalie to expose like last time.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Well I guess Panarin could be our Marian Hossa when Chicago had their young top forwards of Toews/Kane.

Hawks drafted Toews 2006, Kane 2007, signed Hossa 2009.

Canucks drafted Boeser 2015, Petey 2017, signed Panarin 2019?
