Redonkulous! I heard the canucks might play their home games in edmonton

If so I'll be the closest canuckscorner fan to the team. An insider

a few more crumbs from the media...

In a statement, the Ministry of Health said discussions are ongoing: “Dr. Henry continues to work with the NHL and the other provinces involved to find a safe solution for the return to league play. Discussions have been ongoing to ensure the proposal aligns with the restrictions in place across all provinces.”

Sources on the Canucks side have described those talks, which have also included officials from Vancouver Coastal Health, as “positive.”

Some other details of the plan agreed on between the NHL and NHLPA:

• There will be an opt-out option for players.

• NHL teams may be able to loan players to European teams.

• The extra players will have to clear waivers and will receive a full American Hockey League salary. They will also get NHL per diems.

• There will be changes to the salary cap to allow for emergency call-ups because of COVID-19.

• The NHL is negotiating with the Canadian government plus five provinces to allow teams to host games in their own buildings. The option of playing in the U.S. is on the table, but isn’t preferred. It’s also possible Toronto and Edmonton could be hub cities.

LOL...probably!

Honestly? I'm fighting for our effing time slots for live home games. Also my belief, Vancouver doesn't look good if it's not involved.
Unless, of course, BC wants to completely secede. There's a thought.

Mr Aquilini seemed be in favor of strong covid measures a couple of weeks ago when he fired Mark Donnelly so he can't very well complain now if the province rules out NHL hockey. We all must do what we can and if that means playing the season at an out of province location then I expect his full support for the plan.

It is likely that it is the playing of games that the Health Officer is objecting to. How much of a bubble is imposed between the teams and the rink staff. How secure is the Bible traveling teams are in. Interprovincial travel is outside her realm. There are already exemptions for high calibre athletes to continue training.

More concerning is the compressed schedule and travel. Burke estimated a 120 - 125 day schedule for playing 56 games and have playoffs done by July. That is a game every second night with travel between Vancouver and Montreal.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

I give full credit to the government for putting an expert in viruses in charge instead of a premier in charge like most of the other provinces. We hardly ever see Horgan speaking about viruses compared to Kenny or Ford. Delegating to an expert, Dr. Henry, in BC has saved a lot of lives compared to other large provinces or any of the states. We’ve been very lucky to have her leadership. If she wants to stand up for the highest safety standards in BC, I’m all for it. I think she is well reasoned. We’ve seen enough of Bill Daily to know that he is trying to be a dictator in these discussions. Fuck him and games in Vancouver (or Canada for that matter) if he can’t satisfy the Provincial health requirements. It’s not like we can go to games, so I don’t really give a shit where they are played.

Yah, good luck with that. Most (if not all) of the games against the Leaves in Vancouver (and maybe the Habs) will be on prime time back east, 4:00 PST. Daily has no problem bending over Aquaman.

How are you specifically ‘fighting for our time slots’?

You legally protesting somewhere?
