I thought maybe you were referring to Willie Desjardins. He had those killer dance moves and that mustache.

Like Hughes, Fox, Spurgeon, Addison, Makar, Drysdale, shattenkirk, Gostisbehere etc.?

I noticed that the AHL defense looked no worse without the bumbling giraffe...quite possibly they looked 57% better not having him chase rabbits out to the Blueline leaving his slot unprotected

Giraffe apologists please insert comment

Another Cuz troll job

The D last night was horrific. No matter what people think they know about hockey, there is a HUGE difference between NHL caliber players (even bad ones) vs AHLers.

No need to crush on these depth guys. None of them should be regulars for next season. Giraffe should be shipped out. There needs to be wholesale changes to the dmen in the 4-6 spots or you're wasting your core.

1. Hughes
2. Jeremy
3. OEL (gotta live with it for now)
4. ?
5. ?
6. Bear? (meh)
7-8. AHL callups

Apologists

Guevremont/Tallon 2.0 is coming to save the day - Reinbacher, we’ll just have to wait 3-4 years maybe 5 until he’s making an impact at the NHL level

The offence was no screaming hell either. Almost zero effective forecheck which in turn allows an unimpeded LA attack. I think what you're seeing is an attempt by the coaching staff to emphasis a change in how the Canucks play, and unfortunately the present personnel is still trying to adapt and thank god for Demko.

No doubt. So much work needs to be done, not only on the backend which has been terrible for a decade, but a deeper set of forwards with different skillsets like speed, forechecking, a little more size, asshole-ness, etc. Even with 100% health, we would not be competitive without wholesale changes.

We went from centre strength to top-heavy with no bottom depth. Defence is even worse than before the TDD, Hughes playing too much and still no Hronek. You have to move winger assets to backfill where you're weak. Pump up Brock and Garland so you can recoup some cash and free up spots.

This can't be fixed by coaching voodoo. It has to be done with an NHL system and improved personnel.

I kept thinking they needed the calming factor of Meyers to mellow the shitshow vs the Kings.

Well stated. Wingers are the easiest to acquire and draft, and that isn't intended as slight, but the money players, at least in may opinion start from the goaltender out, defence and then centre, particularly centres who make others around them better. Petey has demonstrated the latter, and as much as I liked Horvat he did not have that ability, nor was he a particularly physical player given his size. It remains to be seen if Petey can dominate in the playoffs.

I'm still somewhat non committal about about what the Horvat trade morphed into and would have preferred less quantity and more quality, in particular on the dman end, but not having seen Hronek play it's a wait and see. What I can garner is that he isn't the most physical player which at least in my opinion should have been somewhat of a priority. I may be eating crow, since Horvat's point production has dropped considerably as compared to Beauvillier, but there is also the Petey/Kuzmenko iinfluence to consider.

Hronek hits alot. His weakness is he serves up deep dish pizzas like that defensive stalwart Luca sPizza.
