Welcome to the Refugees from "Central"

Hey everyone, welcome to the Corner. It's great to see a lot of new faces here and I'm looking forward discussing next season with you all. Just so you know, there are a few "House Rules" that Brian has set up: http://www.canuckscorner.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3409 Basically, just play nice an...

Re: TV Shows: What are you watching?

I don't know if you get it up there, but HBO is airing a '24-7' series about the Penquins and the Caps leading up to the outdoor game. Not a lot of insight into hockey, but most of the players and coaches are mic'd and it makes for an interesting look at the teams and the dressing room atmosphere. I...

Yes - they've started showing on the Cartoon Netwook (at night). Great stuff.

Re: TV Shows: What are you watching?

The only show I make a point of watching these days is True Blood. A bit of comedy - a bit of gore - a bit of sex, and some interesting characters.

Re: TV Shows: What are you watching?

For the HBO shows that are being mentioned, I have to say that 'Carnivale' is possibly the best thing I've seen on TV. Only 2 seasons from a few years back, but just incredible stuff.

Re: TV Shows: What are you watching?

Xavier - Renegade Angel is the only new show I like watching.

I'll usually have dinner with the crew from CSI. There really isn't much interesting me on TV these days.

Re: Gillis teaches a lesson. G.M 101.

If he didn't cost too much Kovolchuk, I'd have no hesitatin to add him to the team. He could be a classic case of needing new scenery. He's been stuck in a town that doesn't give a shit about the team - the same team can only be described as perennial losers. He could provide the extra offense that'...

Re: Gillis teaches a lesson. G.M 101.

Yes, it looks like a textbook play. Add in that he signed for just one year and it's as close to genius as GM can get.

We added a top 3 forward and lost nothing other than Aquaman's money.

Alaska and Victoria have tteams in the ECHL, but they changed the schedule so only the western team play each other, and the eastern team stay back east.

I think it would take more western teams for this to happen.

Here's a map of the 3 leagues.

Geez- I guess my earliest memory was, "Hey Vancouver is getting an NHL team!" - I would have been about 8-9. The extent of my hockey knowledge came from watching the rare game and hockey cards. I was a Tony Esposito fan back then, so once I year I got to go a game courtesy of my Dad's corporate seat...
