Re: 2026 NHL Draft
And yes, they met with Vehoeff in Jan/Feb. but different management team Maybe....RJo and the CoPhoHos could have been involved. Unless you know differently? No I don’t know otherwise but do you think Alvin and Rutherford were the sharing inclusive type? But it is a point well taken. Others could v ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26
Realistically, Raty, Karlsson and Mancini could become impactful depth players under Manny. Raty and Mancini certainly seemed underdeployed last year for a team with no shot that needs to develop players. Now, Mancini didn't do anything to demonstrate that he had a good shot at being a impactful ...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
In my view, the Canucks actually have a fair amount asset wise in D prospects, they aren't starting from zero, and many are now developing in the NHL so who's part of that group matters. And that's a good thing given they will take longer to develop than forwards. I agree that TW and Buium are the ...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
Trading your #1 RHD is pretty risky.
Remember how long they tried before they were able to finally get Hronek?
I think they'd be better served drafting his possible replacement and have him developed by the time Fils contract expires.

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
I see the discussion has already touched on this, I got a bit bored earlier and thought I'd pull some data from 20 drafts (2000-2019) to see if we can quantify pick value a bit more accurately - just the high level hockeydb stuff along with some TOI/G career averages to help assess defensemen. (I ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26
After reading UWs post I think they have to give the job to Manny if he wants it. It just makes too much sense. If they end up drafting Caleb I don't see it as a impossibility on making it work.

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
I'm pretty sure they are indeed taking Malhotra even if Stenberg is left. There seems to be plenty of noise on that one It wouldn't surprise me, but I think they'd be more inclined to take Stenberg or Reid. The 3rd OA should be simple. They'll get a good prospect no matter what. It's the Canucks ...

Re: Ownership and Management (These fuckin' guys™)
Here’s a different angle on the subject. Jim has pointedly alluded to the fact he’s got one foot out the door. All the talk has been about the GM search. What if the GM is already known, Johnson, and the search is in fact for Jim’s replacement? I agree BOS. I think/hope the Aquilinis learned somet ...

Re: Ownership and Management (These fuckin' guys™)
Well, what's the scuttlebutt on his replacement? Likely won't be someone highly respected, who the fuck would work as a patsy for Rutherford - so likely going in a "younger up and coming" direction. As some would say, a Yes (Wo)Man. Possible candidates: Internal hire Options: 1) Ryan Johnson. He ...
