Re: Just Not ready

Perhaps isolating the why is this happening and solving the issue by making it less tempting/fruitful to do so would be a superior angle of approach from our fearless leaders. That seems to commonly sensical Donny. I don’t mean to bring hockey into creepers grill, but this is why I have no patience ...

Re: Past Canuck Players

They bridged Hughes and locked up Scooter long-term. Scooter was always their guy; they identified Scooter, not Hughes, as their franchise player. He's going to be a top-three center in the league for a long time, so you get him signed for max term, and you build your franchise around him. They ...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft

I think one of those two wingers will end up being there at number three. Many teams will choose one of the defensemen - Reid, Carels or Verhoeff - over a winger at number two based on positional value (and maybe BPA). I won’t be surprised if Vancouver is the only team that would actually take S ...

Re: L-GDT - Canucks vs Knights 7 PM PST, SNP

One of the worst games for passing we've had in a while. Good observation. The Canucks are not particularly fast, but to me this is less an issue of foot speed and more an issue of not making clean passes and not making quick decisions. And it is already a team that doesn't pass (or accept passes ...

Re: Canucks 25/26 Season Post Mortem and look ahead.

The nhl players you keep around or sign during bridge years should ideally serve more than one of the following purposes: (1) You can trade them at the deadline for an asset (2) They play a style of game you want your kids to emulate or are otherwise good models for young players to learn from (3 ...

UW, This was Nikki last week, the day after Trump rambling evening briefing to the Nation, I had sent this to Donny last week. Interesting her take on Iranian vs US perception of victory. https://x.com/NikkiHaleyHQ/status/2039030517488644366?s=20 I think these two views of the war are closer to ...

And I have little to no concern about the competence of those Americans who are responsible for tactics, where military or intelligence. I am deeply impressed. 150 schoolgirls' families might disagree with you. I honestly have zero faith in the people running the show. There is no plan, no true ...

Re: Canucks 25/26 Season Post Mortem and look ahead.

Good post, theman. This was obviously a train wreck of a season. Management had two goals heading into the year: do what it takes to get QH to sign on July 1 and fight for a playoff spot. F on both scores. The good news is that the train wreck was so bad that there’s no confusion from a “competitive ...

Re: Positive Shit

Happy belated Easter. The resurrection is positive shit, even 2000 years on. Even to those skeptics as to truth of the resurrection or to Christ’s divinity, it ought to be a given that it is positive shit if one is grateful for western civilization. I believe that no widely adopted code of ethics or ...

Congratulations to the very brave men who pulled off the rescues of the downed airmen over the weekend. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cm2k1dgz142o I have my concerns about this war: (1) presumption is always against use of force and case for force is weak; (2) no clear articulation for what it ...

EP will still be on the team for the foreseeable future, same as Debrusk and Boser. Do you think DeBrusk isn’t movable? The salary isn’t back breaking, he’s a pp asset, and he has been mostly steady in his career. Unlike 40, where any turnaround could drastically improve return potential (you only n ...

Frozen Four set

Frozen 4 is set. 10 time winner Denver U (5 times in the old days when ncaa hockey was rarely part of the paths to the nhl, 5 times in the modern era, most recently 2 years ago) knocked off defending champion Western Michigan to advance. They will play 9 time winner Michigan, who is the #1 overall ...

Agree. It is the one sport where watching at a level below adds to the entertainment value because the teams seem so affected by the flow of the game.

NBA is great for individual freakish athleticism, but it always feels like a “product” to me.
