Re: Canucks Young Guns

Interesting note today. The Canucks reveal that had they beaten Edmonton in game 7 last spring they were set to bring Lekkermaki in, to replace Boeser until Boeser would have been cleared to play. They have a lot of confidence in the kid and you have to wonder if they will try to get him games this ...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Decent game. 2-0 for the baby Canucks. Sasson and Felton with the goals. Their systems are looking good this early. Top line of Bains, Raty, and Lekkermaki looked solid. D Petey with the big Russian on D was a big solid paring. Christian Felton looked really good on the right side D. He is 24 so old...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 24-25

Benning - The Unsung Hero of this team. He deserves those kind of accolades. No GM, I repeat No GM in the Canucks pantheon of GM’s has ever managed this level of a trifecta: No. 1 centre - Demko No. 1 D-man - Hughes (first Canuck Norris trophy winner) No. 1 Goalie - Demko Along with An enviable no....

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Yes. Stop trading our youth. We have a long window, and we need value contracts. Lindholm was an ok trade, but it is an unsustainable plan. "Win now" only shortens our window, and rarely does it pay off. Also, dumping picks leads to overpayments for every one, including 3rd and 4th line scrubs when...

Re: Rebooted Around the League - 23/24

I have one question. Why is Dakota Joshua listed twice?

Re: Canucks News N Notes 24-25

I would have been tempted to give him that extra year. He brings an element we will miss. But word out there was that it wasn't about term. Something about not being happy with the way certain players were treated. Like fellow Russians. As well he was a big Lindholm fan andethought the Canucks could...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 24-25

The players Benning brought aboard to try to compete were fine. Their contracts were not. I didn't mind his personnel choices as much as I minded his lack of cap management. Then when we were almost our from under those contracts he trades them all for OEL. Sure we have Garland left but not much to ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 24-25

And in other news, taken from somewhere on the web: A positive sign for one of the top goaltenders in the game. On Tuesday, Vancouver Canucks reporter Rick Dhaliwal mentioned that goaltender Thatcher Demko is back on the ice. He is currently skating and working out, and it is believed that he will b...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 24-25

Dhaliwal may, or may not, be right.

I'd say no matter the status of Demko, Dhaliwal has set himself up to be right.

Re: What are you looking forward to next season?

There's no consideration. He can't play. They now have a pile of space. Pretty self-explanatory. Yes I know Blob. Columbus has asked the NHL for special consideration due to unforeseen circumstances. They want an exception from having to reach the cap floor. I say they shouldn't be granted one. Sur...

Re: What are you looking forward to next season?

Holy fuck what an unbelievable tragedy. So sad so sad. But at least they are out from under that contract. I know too soon. There is no way the league should grant them any consideration regarding the cap. They have plenty of time to get cap compliant and Johnny Hockey is not the first death or trag...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 24-25

And in further news: Stolen from somewhere on the web..... “Initially, it was planned to register goalkeeper Artūrs Šilov for the tournament, who, unfortunately, did not manage to recover quickly enough from knee ligament inflammation, which prevents him from participating in the tournament games wi...

Re: What are you looking forward to next season?

Without Demko we battle to make the playoffs. Gotta be the biggest storyline. EP a close second. It doesn’t matter if he scores 150 points if we don’t have goaltending. Just ask Edmonton and Toronto.

Re: Canucks News N Notes 24-25

They have also taken the unfamiliar path and signed him to both an AHL contract and a PTO. So if he does not make the team out of camp he goes directly to Abbotsford.

Now do AHL contracts count towards allowable contract
