Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

You know, somewhere in Florida a certain Finnish defenceman is probably enjoying a quiet smile over this turn of events.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

From the NHL.com: Marchand left the game and didn't return after getting elbowed in the head by Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov with 4:49 left in the second period. He needed help off the ice from Andrew Ference and Jaromir Jagr and headed straight for the dressing room. Now normally I don't lik...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

Just a question, can you buy out a player and then re-sign him to a lower contract? You take someone like Booth, who some people despise but management seems to still like, and buy him out almost with a new contract on the table. With the amount the guy makes off the buyout, depending on the new con...

Provided they make the playoffs, I wonder if Rutherford will have the same enthusiasm for Semin when the guy vanishes. I guess they don't have to worry about the slary cap floor...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

I suggested a while ago that MG should try to trade Ballard straight up for Komisarek. With the leaves putting Komisarek on the waivers, the Canucks should put a claim on him and trade Ballard for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. There are still teams looking for a puck-rushing defenseman. ;) If het gets c...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

Hockey Central @ noon is speculating that Kipper will be moved to Toronto for Scrivens/Reimer + 1st, and will sign a 2 year extension with the leaves ($5 million range). This is the rumour circulating now. That would be a good return for Calgary. It would certainly impact Luongo's trade value, one ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Kris Versteeg out for the season from the sounds of it. Florida is looking like a safe bet for the 1st overall pick. In that case I hope they do want Lou. They have alot of youth already, so there's s chance they will be interested in a veteran allstar goaltender..... Tallon is quickly running out ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Weiss out for the season. So much for him as an option for the 2nd line. :? The bigger thing is if Florida was/is a shopper for Luongo, does this turn of events make them more or less of a buyer? At this point, you may as well mail in the season if you're Dale Tallon. Why trade for Luongo now? Even ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Why more guys aren't wearing those kevlar socks is beyond me. I wager Bieksa swears by them nowadays. Speaking of whom, if Bieksa's injury is any barometer dpending on the severity, Karlsson could be a while in getting back to Norris form. A guy whose game is generated off his skating.... all I can ...
