Game 2 of the road trip takes us to the Windy City.

If we play like we did in the last 40 minutes of yesterday's game, we should have this one. If we play like we did in the first 20, we're cooked.

GO CANUCKS GO!

Again, as stated in the Main Board the other day, I hope the team does not take the Hawks lightly.

They are 2-2-1 and playing with renewed vigor and a refined culture.

They also just beat a Blues team 8-3 2 days ago that embarrassed us at home on Monday.

Foligno is off due to family issues so maybe a little of their belligerence will be somewhat sedated.

Be interesting to see how the defense looks tonight - basically played 4D last night. Mancini got less than 10 mins ice time, EP25 just over.

Hopefully they start the game a bit quicker - Demko > Lankinen - not sure we can get away with that type of 1st period with our backup in goal.

I feel like this is a game Petey should shine in, Chi-town has a young team - and hopefully prone to some poor decision making. Petey does have a Datsyuk-like read on plays to generate turnovers for his teammates when the opposition makes high risk plays. At least when he is on/engaged.

That is concerning considering the talk (heading into the season) about the Canucks deep blueline. However, the Stars are considered by many to be a deep team that should challenge to the conference finals at least. Many teams would roll their top-4 a ton of minutes against teams like that. D-Petey hasn’t wowed this far. He was extra impressive last year, but that should be tempered by keeping in mind that he was a later round pick who exceeded expectations, and did so earlier than predicted…..could be that he is a #6 at best (maybe that conclusion brings Topper back to say “I told ya so” to a few folks here), or he’s in that “sophomore slump” that sometimes lasts most of a season.

Manfredi should not be depended upon for anything more than spot duty at this point. He has no real NHL experience, and likely gets eaten alive by top teams.

Only hopefully?

This is true. I’m giving him Donny’s requested 20 games before I completely write him off (again). I see what he’s got, some of it includes what you point out, just gotta hope he actually finds a way to bring it.

We all are hopeful about that. Or this season is lost.

Forgot about the Dickinson Chytil dynamic.

Maybe some fireworks out there tonight.

Why are they giving Bedard bum wingers to play with?

Nice to see your sense of humour is intact.

...and I was just about to respond to your book query.
