What are you looking forward to next season?
It's a little early for predictions, etc - but I was wondering what y'all are looking forward to?
Rookies? EP40? Hughes getting better? There should be a lot to look forward to this year.

EP40 by a mile. If he doesn't turn into a franchise player, we're going nowhere.
Demko's health issues second.
Can't see Hughes getting much better, although he could have a better playoff performance.

Yeah - I'm looking forward to see if Alien Scooter Boy steps it up this year for the full season and beyond. Playoffs should be a sure thing, so really that's going to be the highlight again.
I think Hughes has another level - he seems to bring something new each year. I think he'll be better prepared for playoff hockey this year.
I hope our goalie situation is really boring this season, with Demko healthy and a reliable backup sharing the load. I'm not saying Demko's injury last year cost us a Cup, but.....

Re: What are you looking forward to next season?
I’m curious to see how the new guys look. Can Debrusk take his game to another level on a consistent basis and gel with EP? Where does Heinan fit in to the lineup, and will he make an impact on the PK? Can Foote and Gonch turn Desharnais into a reliable 18-20 min defender and pick up where Zad left off?
I’m looking forward to a team that is even harder to play against with the new additions who, on paper at least, seem to bring a lot more jam, grit, energy and offence than the guys they replaced.

Elevinsixersons knee and Demkos recovery will be the main factors in the Canucks success this season.Cornuck wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 1:27 pm Yeah - I'm looking forward to see if Alien Scooter Boy steps it up this year for the full season and beyond. Without Demko we battle to make the playoffs. Gotta be the biggest storyline. EP a close second. It doesn’t matter if he scores 150 points if we don’t have goaltending. Just ask Edmonton and Toronto.
The only HW the Canucks need

I like your points Blades.
On D, Desharnais was a key cog in a helluva good PK over there in Coilerton. He's not necessarily Zadorov mean but he's a big strong dude who plays solid D. There's even the possibility he rides with Hughes on the top pair if they are looking to split up Hronek and QH.
Forbort plays a heavy game, we have Soucy and Myers still. That's a big tough defense again which I like
Up front it looks like they added a ton of speed to the top 6 in Heinen and Debrusk. I predict Heinie plays on the top 2 lines somewhere because of that speed bumping Hogs down to a role he's better suited for (under 13 minutes per game)
They added a pretty angry little fella in Sherwood which makes those of us who have wanted some scrotum on the team happier. Not sure if Blaze makes the cut but I recall he's a major prick to play against.
The Russians are gone so no more melancholic melodramas.
I think we challenge for the division again if Demko makes a full recovery early enough otherwise with Silovs and Pantera we are a wildcard team I guess

lots to talk about and good points being made but this is by far my concerns list. Demko's health not a prio to me until they tell us what's really going on and not media summer click baits

Re: What are you looking forward to next season?
I'm relatively confident EP40 will bounce back. He has a good track record of bouncing back from adversity - even if it takes him an offseason to do so sometimes. It will be fun to watch him and Miller anchor two top lines, but I'm kind of expecting it.
To me, I'm looking forward to how we measure up against Edmonton, with a view to knocking them off in the playoffs. Last season was a pleasant surprise to many, but it also set a new standard for this season. It will suffice to win the division, but everyone knows that if they fall to Edmonton again it will be like spinning tires. There are other elite teams in the conference, and even Vegas can't be treated lightly yet, but beating Edmonton in the regular and postseason will be what I'm looking forward to most. Everything beyond that is gravy.

Is the $11.6M Scooter boy a driver or a passenger?
How steady is the revamped D corp?
What do the new additions bring? Is there a Bluger surprise?
Letterkenny's camp with the big team.

Re: What are you looking forward to next season?
I forgot all about him. I wonder if he could steal a job or is he still needing some seasoning
Who has watched him? Periwinkle Blue? What do we have in Jon Letterkenny?

Re: What are you looking forward to next season?
If he legit made the club and not rushed, that would be huge for our better but still lacking top 6 winger situationCousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 5:44 pmI forgot all about him. I wonder if he could steal a job or is he still needing some seasoning
