The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Seems like it was a planned setup to me. The trump administration wants to negotiate directly with the russians and leave Ukraine out of it.
How unrealistic is Trump?

He expected Zelensky to come on bended knee, say thank you thank you, give up occupied territories, get no security guarantees, give up 50% of his mineral rights (or whatever that was exactly ... see Topper's post), sign a piece of paper that Putin will throw in the trash. And then Trump would then probably win the Nobel Prize because he loves PEACE!

If Trump ends this war he would deserve the Nobel prize. Not that they would vote for him, of course they wouldn't.Zelemsky just sold out his country for no return. He just wants to keep the gravy train running. Let Europe support their Churchill lol.

Fuck that little creep. Closed down the Orthodox Church and stole over 150 churxhes, jailed or chased out of the country all his political opponents. Banned opposition political parties. Banned the Russian language. Shut down newspapers and tv stations that didn't tow the line.Sends teams of press gangs out to beat the shit out pensioners and take them to the front with no trainng. Vance just called him out on that, you saw it yourself if you watched the video. I can show you a few dozren videos of the press gangs in action.
Zelenskyy is no saint, but he's better than Putin. These discussions shouldn't have been done in public.
I think they did meet him privately, that was just the presser I think. Zelensky couldn't hold it together though, lol. He's not well suited to the job.
Millions of US AID and NED dollars were spent giving him a Churchillian image, it's hilarious when you think about it. Angelina Jolie recieved 20 mil to hang out with Zelensky for a day. Bono, Sean Penn, Ben Stiller, half the entertainment industry was in on the grift and US AID made it rain.

Meanwhile, Trump continues to enrich himself:

BREAKING: SEC halts fraud prosecution of Chinese national who sent Trump millions

In December, Popular Information reported that Chinese crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun purchased $30 million in crypto tokens from World Liberty Financial (WLF), a new venture backed by President Donald Trump and his family. Sun’s purchase resulted in a cash windfall for Trump. On Wednesday, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Sun sent a joint letter to a federal judge, asking for a stay of Sun's case. Today, the judge granted the SEC's request.

I think you nailed it in your earlier post - planned setup. Vance went right after him "Did you ever say thank you?" What type of response was he expecting? Likely the exact one he got.

This likely just gives Trump the opportunity to spin that he had a peace deal negotiated, but VZ wouldn't concede. Throw their hands up, and deal with Putin instead, and stop funding Ukraine's war while claiming his hands are clean.

Did Zelensky sign away Ukraine's resources and ports? I have heard yet?

That'd potentially enrich the USA and completely screw the Ukraine.

Thayt's very perceptive Jelly, I thank that's been Trump's backup plan all along. Zelensky fwiw cannot sign a peace deal because he passed legislation in the Rada that makes it illegal to negotiate with Putin. So it's literally impossible to get a deal as long as Zelensky is around. Either Z goes away, or Trump throws up his hands and walks away.

The answer we were looking for was "Russia" - Russia benefits the most from this charade.

I agree. It was an ambush, however there's enough out there on Zelenskyy's "mishandling" of some of these funds that I have little faith that he is anything more than a crook himself.

Trump is definitely building walls instead of bridges right now though. It makes me think that he's dead serious about wanting Canada. America has built up enough power that if they had a free hand to exploit the minerals and resources on top of what they already have, they could probably stand against China, Russia, and Europe.....but ultimately the world will end in fire.

According to Fox Vance and Hegseth kicked Zelensky out of the meeting w3ithout lunch. He did not sign the mineral deal which is great news for Ukraine.

CNN- Mike Waltz and Marco Rubio told Zekensky to leave with lunch sitting in the hallway.

In most any company or organization, you would recuse yourself from decisions when in a conflict of interest...

When I was in lending and a friend or family member was looking for a loan, I would pass the file to a collegue with instructions to ignore my relationship when making a decision...

But nothing close to the policies I followed during my time in the corporate world apply to Trump and Russia....

So in the 1980's when Trump was building casinos and purchasing buildings and then bankrupting them he became a plague for Wall Street lenders who had a special term for him which meant stay away from him...

So he went to Russia for most of his financing...

His sons would later declair that the company didn't need American lenders because they got all the money they needed out of Russia...

Then you had the Mueller Report which concluded that the Russians had interfered in the 2016 elections in a big way and while the report couldn't conclude that Trump was involved, it did conclude that save for him being a sitting President it would have indicted for obstruction of justice...

The Mueller Report concluded that it was a matter for the politicians to take the case up and we know how that went...

So the fact that Trump has been aligned with Putin and against the free world shouldn't come as a surprise...

Zalensky on the other hand has only had a negative relationship with Trump dating back to when he refused to lie about Biden as a way to help Trump win the 2020 election which he ended up losing...

Trump shouldn't be involved in decisions regarding Russia and Ukraine but that unfortunately is not how things work in politics...
