The Aqua bros are are quietly trruing to sell the team or looking to take on a partner to buy out the one disgruntled brother, whatever, the rumours are wild but where there is smoke there is fire. Same with the Whitecaps, they were rumoured to be selling, or some partners wanting out but have now moved to seeking out another partner to help build their own building as they don’t like their current situation at BC Place. Ken Simms got in there trying to push the idea of building a new stadium where the old Empire Stadium was or at the location of the horse track but not sure how this works since thr PNE grounds is Crown which is what the Whitecaps are trying to get away from - BC Place. Also, the people living around the PNE don’t want it. I think all the teams should be back at the PNE grounds it’s a great location but they would need to improve transit to the grounds, need a sky train connection there which would take massive funds and time to build. A line under Hastings from downtown to SFU and down the back side to tri cities would be ideal. They’ve been floating the idea of building a skytrain from the north shore to metro town a bit lately. Anyhow, the PNE grounds, although the most ideal location for all the franchises is a bit of a pipe dream

J-Pat asked Jeff Marek this question:
"If this season goes sideways, that will be 4+ years with 1 playoff appearance... at what point does the temperature start to rise under (Patrik Allvin)?"
My answer - “right away, bring out the chopping block “
What says you?

Hargraves isn't biting.

They have to keep New Brighton Pool open.
Those grubby Dagos just want the money to park on their lawn at PNE

Bro, you obviously haven’t tried parking on lawns for the PNE lately, it’s all Chinese hawking their priorities for parking now, the PNE wops have all migrated to higher ground in north Burnaby now, with the exception of a few stragglers whoms kids are waiting for them to kick so they can sell their parents fig tree properties for $2.5 million.

I worked at the PNE and for the Canucks in Parking from 85-88. It was 98 % grubby wops. I think they thought I was a full blooded wop which is why i got hired as its all greaseballs there. I'm a 1/4.
The old Italians usd to absorb a lot of overflow during he Fair off of Renfrew. Now its full of chinks?

The PNE (Crown) should sell off parcels of land where the Coliseum sits, where the race track sits and where the old Empire Stadiim was, privatize those lands for the Canucks and Whitecaps to move to. Build a proper arena for the Canucks, an outdoor soccer stadium for the whitecaps and a baseball Diamond to bring the MLB to. Leave BC place for the CFL. Start bringing the sky train to that hub.
The PNE can use the proceeds of those land sales and inject the much needed funds to improve playland/PNE grounds, bringing it into the 21st century as a year round sporting and fair ground and convention hub - ripping down all decaying buildings like the PNE Forum, the PNE Agrodome, the Garden Auditorium, Rollerland to construct proper convention centre spaces.
But all that would be too forward thinking. The highway passes right by the grounds, only natural to put the sports teams back there, great views of the north shore mountains.
Downtown is a high density fucking mess for zombies, nobody wants to go downtown anymore.
Btw the new amphitheater is looking great. It’s going to be a great venue for outdoor concerts.

I applied for the barns, the rides and the parking dept. Brian Burke was such a dick coming in. Snepsts looked lit with Black Eye Butcher. Quinn was awesome. Smyl and Barry Pederson. Great guys. The first year i worked there it was fooked. 85/86.... the fans chanting Albert Albert after the Crappy Tire commercial.
That is the hub of the lower mainland. Put it back together. So easy to get in and out of. Rogers Arena is a joke. Knock all that shit down and get some transit back where it belongs.
I tried to see if the Arms lifted my ban.... not so much.

I had forgotten about that Albert ad
As someone who left the LM 20+ years ago now, I am interested to hear that the PNE area is returning to relevance for some. The reason they built GM place where they did was to bring the Canucks into the center of things instead of out on the perimeter where that area (Renfrew) was once considered.
I wonder if it's more that the more feverish supporters of the team don't live in the city core any more due to being replaced by foreigners. Everyone I used to know from back in North Burnaby have left for the valley, the island or beyond and when I revisit old haunts it's like visiting an alternate reality where nobody is left from the past
Like invasion of the bootysnatchers

They need to privatize the entire PNE grounds. Break it up, sell the PNE/Playland grounds to a private amusement park company.

There's no call to dismantle the PNE. Everything is cool there. Knock down the shitty houses around it. You then aren't shoehorned into the downtown circus as you have 4 points of exit. The rides are the real deal Pacific Blue. Perhaps I can hook up with that barn girl I met on the wooden roller coaster or apologize to the lifeguard I plugged in the mouth at New Brighton Pool.

You were quite industrious as a sapling, not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get in there, did you get in with the horse crowd? Them boys down in them stables were all grifters, couldn’t trust them as soon as you turned your back. Did you bus in from tri-cities? Or thumb rides? Did Clifford Olson ever pick you up, did you put back beers with young Donny Taylor at the Mountain Shadow pub, remember Red Scardillo? The official PNE enforcer? Even the Clark Park boys were afraid of Red.
They ain’t knocking down houses around the perimeter boy, especially with a housing crisis, ain’t no re/zoning happening other than land assemblies for multi family low rise, it’s already happening on Renfrew. Chef, didn’t say dismantle, he said renovate, walk it out of 1960 ffs. The midway is ancient shit. The buildings have been overrun by colonies of rats, mice and pigeons. There ain’t no way any of the pro teams are going back there tenanting to crown property again, it’s the whole reason why the Whitecaps are looking for a new home. Fuck the crown.

I rode the bus the first year coming out of Grade 10. So as an expansion baby that lines me up from 85-88. I still want to stuff a couple more fingers up the barn girl. She picked on a young Hargraves. I love the PNE.
It was the shit.

Your thoughts on Allvin and Rutherfords work to date?
Hired half way through the 2021-22 season
2022-23 - full season
2023-24 - full season
2024-25 - full season
2025-26 - in progress
Chef ain’t seeing any improvement. In fact, seemingly, getting worse.
Chef ain’t particularly impressed, when one takes into account, the hoopla they came with.

This is a potentially solid discussion topic (of which we have had a few here of late which is very refreshing).
Also pertinent I believe.
Thanks for bringing it up Dude.
We will keep the discussion topical on the subject line noted, past Management comparables will be kept out of it please.
Posts stating yeah but Gillis or yeah but Benning will be removed or edited.
The conversation can ensue just fine without those narratives included.
This is a "request directive", no response is necessary nor required.
Thank you for your attention to this matter (see wot)....
