This is a solid point Cos.

Maybe the West Coast weed machine has his back so they're hamstrung.

:mex:
Play-by-play callers are supposed to have a certain bias. They work for the local broadcast team, and so excitement over the home team sells the product.

Cheech was a step above. It was mind boggling the number of times he credited a Canucks goalie for an outstanding play to just get a piece of the puck, only to show the replay where the puck was deflected 8 feet in front of the crease and went out of play. Often times Shorty would be the voice of reason saying something to the effect of, “I’m not sure John, I don’t think that happened.”

I loved Cheech’s character, but his biased analysis was of the ilk that has kept ownership from accepting a rebuild.

Mëds, are you saying the Aqua boys never watched a game, and relied on Cheech's insights for controlling the team?

No. I'm saying that bias similar to his is what is employed by people who think the team (or player) is better than they are.

The Canucks are only 6 points out of a wildcard spot.....that's 3 wins. But anyone with an objective set of peepers can see they are not a team that should be that close right now. However the rose coloured Canucks fan, or owner desperate for playoff gate and concession revenue, will object to pulling the plug and entering a rebuild.

Yeah. I think we start with Kane. Retain half, add a shot of tequila, and get a 2nd on New Years Eve. Set the tone.

Kane has been fine lately.

Unless he chooses to go, leave him be.

Sherwood, Forbort, Blueger, Kampf are realistic trade options.

These scorched earth freaks are hilarious.

Is Kane really one of those veterans you want to keep around to mentor the young prospects Blob? I don't think we resign him so might as well get a pic back.

Sure trade him I guess. I have heard he's well liked in the room. I think he wants to wind it up here. Give him 2 x 3, with incentive. Does still add size, swagger and hands.

Boeser is unnmoveable
Debrusk has been fine

I love Garland but the other two have negative value. Might be time to move him. He would fetch a bit of return. Can't have all these elves up front. Hoglander is playing catchup all year with that high ankle sprain.

Demko- no way. He wants to be here. Get him back healthy.

If someone is willing to offer decent futures for Demko then I move him out. It's time to stockpile picks/prospects and not watch assets depreciate because they're loyal. He's injury prone but still has good value to a team wanting a stud for a cup run (if you retain).

This is something we never do effectively in van that other franchises seem to always do. It's probably why we seem to pick so often in the 10-15 range

In the last 6 drafts, we've had three picks in the 11-15 spots.

In the other three? We didn't even have a 1st round pick.

All this for a single playoffs, possibly for the entire decade of the 2020s.

If this doesn't speak volumes about how wrong the plan and direction of this franchise is, I don't know what does.

It's the blueprint to follow if you love almost making the playoffs and never winning championships

All cup teams experience the bottoming out where they draft their elite talent. It's not as complicated as the Canucks franchise seems to think it is

Ok - not around 'this' league, but an interesting goal from the KHL

Ha.

Shalunov didn't like it in NA??

Decent sized dude...decent stats.

Edit...yep...

Max Shalunov has not played in the NHL due to a combination of his preference for the financial stability and guaranteed playing time in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), a negative experience during an earlier stint in the North American minor leagues, and a lack of a mutually agreeable contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, the team that held his NHL rights.

Pretty good heavyweight scrap between Stanley and Middleton in the Jets Wild game just a minute ago. Good hockey game as well.
