Evander would destroy the room. Why even dream it

He's 28 now anyways. Don't need his demeanor.

Doug Wilson, like Lombardi and Holland, needs to move on. He had a good run, but he’s getting sloppy.

Karlsson's contract is going to be a really bad legacy for him if Erik doesn't turn it around in a big way.

Yep, you can only stick to your guys for so long before cutting bait and moving on. San Jose shoulda started there transitioning after their Stanley cup final loss. Karlsson is not worth the money so far and it’s only gonna get worse.

signing Thornton and Marleau, such a step back in time to highlight the futility of development.

Why make a move? It ain't broke. Don't fix it.
Any moves we make is moving a forward (perhaps 2) out and all we are taking back are picks and prospects.
We have 2 rookies in the lineup this year, and will make room for 1-2 more each year after. Those are the moves.
2 Reasons:
1) Incoming injuries @ the backend
2) Upgrade the D
We have lots of depth up front and I think we can withstand some injuries there, but I can't say the same about our D. It seems like Hughes is OK for now and Sautner lasted like one period. After Fatenberg, I'm not sold that any of the guys in Utica can fill in for an extended stretch at the present time. As we all know, it's just a matter of time until Tanev and/or Edler goes down for a long stretch again.
I'm also not comfortable with Stecher as I see him as the weak link in our D-core. I wouldn't mind replacing him with a J.Benn/L.Schenn type who's a RS guy.

I thought it was a big mistake to lose Pavelski for nothing, but I don't think he'd turn that ship around.
If they go into a rebuild, i'd be amazed if Wilson can rebuild as fast as Benning has.

Stecher got man-handled vs the big Blues team, I'd still like to try to upgrade that 3rd pairing with Benn, someone who Green and Baumer can trust to play like 18min a game, play's tough and physical but can help chip in scoring wise a bit, a reliable dman, experienced. David Savard would be nice.
The last few Cup teams bottom D pairings included the likes of:
- Gunnarsson, Edmundson, Bortuzzo (all 6'2 - 6'4)
- Kempny, Orpik, Djoos. (6' - 6'3)
- Dumoulin, Cole, Hainsey, Lovejoy. (6'1-6'4)
No game breakers, but some veteran dependable dmen, some who could chip in a bit, don't really see any smaller dmen there except Djoos but he's 6'0, and if they aren't big guys, they are really smart veteran guys who know how to play a high IQ game.
Edler - Myers
Hughes - Tanev
Benn - Veteran dman.
Or just bring in Olli Juolevi to play with Benn, OJ plays a pretty dynamic game and should help more offensively and being sheltered behind Edler/Hughes should help him, also the coaches would be more inclined to give OJ-Benn more minutes alleviating Edler some time to recover.
Edler-Myers
Hughes-Tanev
Juolevi-Benn

Yeah, I like Troy Soldier and all, being a local kid, works hard, great team guy and decent skill set, but not sure we can have 2 smallish D-men in our lineup (especially in the playoffs).
Tryamkin has all the attributes u want in a guy if we want to be serious about the playoffs (everything except that NHL veteran exerience), but until he signs a contract with us, he'll always be a question mark.

He looked real bad tonight against the Blues. It's getting worse now. There are teams that could use him for big minutes which is what he
was getting here. Hughes and Myers here now so ..... could trade for a pick and gain a wee bit of cap?
Skyo has the plan I like with in his options...

Jordie can do this. In fact I think coaching might be his future one day.

I have no idea why the Canucks would get rid of depth for picks considering where they are in the standings. Stecher had a mediocre game, but so did many others. He is still and NHL level Dman. One injury to Tanev or Myers and people will be complaining endlessly if he were traded away.
