Obamacare sucks - but thanks to the American's view of socialized medicine as something horrible and not even being an option - the country is stuck with it for now. Republicans aren't offering a solution, they just want to get rid of it overnight which will harm millions of people.

Yes, the Republicans put in a huge apparatus for listening to and reading all that we do (and storing it). Obama's record on whisitlblowers isn't great, which you didn't bring up in your first post (but hey - keep changing the goalposts) And once in place, the system for spying on your people and those around the world won't be dismantled - thanks Cheney!

Unlike most people down here (and you it seems) - I try to look at the issues with some nuance. Is he the greatest most awesome president in the history of the country or the Kenyan born Muslim intent on destroying the greatest nation in the history of the world™? Or is he like every president who came before him and will be judged by history to have made some good progress as well as some mistakes along the way.

In the big picture, I feel he has done a lot to repair the reputation with some countries after 8 eight years of Bush. Trump will undo all of that in a week (just look at his trip to Mexico).

But hey Doc - blame it ALL on Obama. It fits your briebarts' agenda well. Seriously, I know you're better than this.. I know you're capable of critical thought and not just regurgitated Right wing talking points. You can do it!!

You need to remember that Obama has dealt the worst obstruction of any president. Combine that with the sheer hatred coming from the right - Bigotry? Who knows? But there has been a true movement to see him fail, yet he has done what he could (and yes, he's made some mistakes along the way) but when you have FOX, briebart and their ilk using the best tools of propaganda to turn a large percentage of the country against the president - something is very wrong.

So tell me how he was supposed to unite America when 43% of Republicans still think he's a Muslim and 20% of the country think he was born in Kenya?

I never liked Bush - I thought he was a little too simple-minded for the job and saw too much in black and white - but never did I come close to hating him with the extreme vile hatred that the propaganda machine has created against Obama.

One of the first things I learned when I moved down here is that people have NO clue how to discuss politics. You're spoiled up there... you seriously are. Even 20 years ago, people had their minds made up and locked shut. Left - right - atheist - religious - progressive - conservative... it's just a mess that has gotten so much worse in the past 20 years.

You would honestly think that we have 2 presidents down here. You would think that there are 2 countries - one where it's all going to hell, and one where things are great. Of course, it's all relative and the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I've always thought that Canada should be the most incredible awesome country in the history the world (and it mostly is) - with abundant resources and a small population. What could go wrong? Why isn't everyone a millionaire up there? Point is - there's always room for improvement.

But back on point here - I need to eat soon (so now Doc can get the last word in ) - this country is fucked up - if only because things are going so well that people can waste their time (lives) watching propaganda, reading lying Facebook memes and then thinking they have the truth. And yes, it goes both ways.

Politics in both the US and Canada had better start getting involved with and changing the deplorable trade agreements with China. Maybe they need our shit, (our best natural resources and raw material at a DIRT CHEAP PRICE, makes me sick), But we DO NOT need as much of their finished products, much of which is below standard.
Keep on this path and N. America will have no second industries at all, you can already see it happening.
Never mind the low wages their workers make and the FACT, (look it up), that many of their workers are fed Meth to make them go faster, if they burn out, there's more.

Right, Vlad is on line with the side doing the chlorine bombing. Which makes it all the harder for the US to do anything. And the US ally Turkey is bombing the US supported Kurds... Bush attacking Iraq has really created a mess down there. All the king's horses and all the king's men really couldn't help much at this point. Especially not with Putin so heavily involved with a regime the US would like to see gone.
