Fifth year I've read this excuse for the waste of space
And I’m pretty sure it comes out after the season is all but lost. Then everyone gets all excited for next year…..again.

Mason McTavish and Anaheim are likely parting ways.
That team is shedding a lot of money this summer, they’re gonna need to reach the floor.

He’s having a down year for sure. But it’s not insanely bad.
He could go on a heater and grab 10-12 points over their last 14 games. Suddenly his season gets written off as a not unusual campaign for a young player in the first year of a new contract where expectations are higher.
2 healthy scratches in a row though…..

CapWages shows them way over the cap if they bring everyone back. But, their top 3 RD will average age 35 next year too if they bring back Carlson, Gudas and Truba. I don't know their plans for defence, but, that's a big hole to fill if those guys leave (or die of old age

)
But, if Anaheim is looking to dump MMcT, and they don't resign some of their top RD, maybe we can look at Mancini as one of the pieces going back to Anaheim. Petterson MMct, Rossi and Cootes is a strong set of centers, at least on the computer screen. I like MMcT, but we can't eff up yet another rebuild with another bad trade, so if we get him, our management needs to be cautious and make a hockey trade, not a please the media trade.

Cutter and Leo due for hefty raises. Mint and Zellweger to a lesser degree.
I could see them re-signing Gudas, Trouba at 32 is having a bit of a resurgence.
I could see Pettersson agreeing to waive to Cali, and they could use another vet up front.
MM’s ice time has been on the decline for several months now.

Bit surprising to me that they are already near the cap threshold for next season if they maintain this current roster.
They've rebuilt the right way, drafting and developing but still have taken 7 years without playoffs to get to this point. Looks like they break the cycle with coach Q this season and some expensive vets, but is this their window opening?
It's a shame that our owner has been so clueless and greedy (TWR) because SJ, CHI, ANA to name a few, are the realities of a real rebuild. This stretch of bottom-feeding towards the mushy-middle is what we need to look forward to. I doubt FA has the patience to handle it though.
MM could use a change of scenery it seems...

Carlson and one of Gudas or Trouba should be retained. All of them should be cheaper than they are now.

Capwages.com shows them $13 sheets over. $10 mil over if we cut the roster to 23. Anaheim has 5 guys coming off of entry level contracts expected to get about $40 million in combined raises. Nice problem to have.

Well that is just it, they can't afford Pettersson with our making cuts elsewhere, more than MM.

On one hand the UFA class this year is not stellar and the way kids contracts are dealt with these days that will very likely continue.
So the bright side of this is that teams who used to ride FA's to improve may now need to wheel and deal.
So a right place, right time Petey market "could" exist.
On the other hand the player is a poor skating, soft as butter, overly sensitive, seen his best days, injury prone, lack of drive, malcontent and who the fuck wants that in their lineup especially at his ticket.
So.
The realistic hope we have with ScooterDoodle is that we draft McKenna and they somehow have immediate chemistry resulting in us getting something out of EP40.
EP McKenna
Rossi Boeser
Cross your fingers.

Oh jeez, how many more years do we have to hear the lemmings go "he's back" every time he flubs one into the opponent's net?
McKenna/Stenberg, Hughes, Miller, Bo... every play driver doing all the work while scooterpuppy gets all the money, accolades and glazing by the media and fanboys.
This has got to be the worst era of Canucks hockey ever. Rebuild can't start until the 3 baldies are shot out of a cannon.

Do aliens have hair?
Who here doesn't think that even mediocre center depth with Rossi/Suter/Blueger/Kampf in your lineup wouldn't have more points than this current roster?
