What do you consider soon? None of those kids look ready to me right now. Tryamkin still has a contract in Russia and I’m not sure if he could be fit in this year st all with cap constraints. I think Stecher will be around for the season.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 7:23 amJuolevi, Woo, Tryamkin, Sautner, Teves, Rafferty, Chatfield, Brisebios, Rathbone, Utonen.......one of those
or, what do you mean by soon? Next spring? 2020/2021? Rafferty looked good last season in a limited role, and Juolevi seems on track. But, neither is as good as Stecher is -right now-. Don't be messin with a good thing, until you actually have a better thing.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 7:26 amWhat do you consider soon? None of those kids look ready to me right now. I think he’s here for the season but next season, not so much. I’d like to re-sign Tanev but he may get more in the open market than what Benning is willing to pay. If we are playoff bound, Tanev certainly won’t be traded which means we most likely lose him for nothing which leads me to believe if him and Hughes continue to shine as a duo then we are throwing s big contract at Tanev. Benning will have to start making room, Stecher’s $2.3 Million per contract is a start, replaced by a cheaper contract currently on the farm. This where I think Sutter gets dealt before July, Gaudette is a much cheaper option. If Sutter continues to play well and stay healthy he’s an easy trade with only 1 year left on his contract and only 30 years old and a good two way centre.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 7:26 amWhat do you consider soon? I concede that the team will also (probably...maybe?) choose the cheaper option and go with Demko. It burns to have to let Marky go after how long it took to develop him but with both Pettersson and Hughes looking at gigantic pay raises there will have to be sacrifices all over the place.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 7:40 amI think he’s here for the season but next season, not so much. My guess is that Benn is traded before Stecher.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 7:40 amI think he’s here for the season but next season, not so much. I forget what hockey writer said it, but the rumour was going around that Tanev may be re-signed and other teams are contacting the Canucks about Stecher, as he's getting limited minutes, he's a righty and a puck mover, RFA.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 7:40 amI think he’s here for the season but next season, not so much. Ya, I gottta think this too. I don't know if it will happen but I'd like to see him have at least a training camp with the Canucks; The Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 8:03 am Even if the Napkin wants to come back, I'm not convinced he would be the 6th best defenseman. He fumbles pucks at the best of times and this team is busy reinventing itself as a puck possession, fast paced team.
There were rumors about Barrie and Vancouver leading up to this past July 1st. There may well be again, next. The Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 9:58 am I wonder if they might let Tanev walk in favour of Barrie on a hometown discount. I dont necessarily think that would be all that wise unless we see him spend another significant portion of the season on the IR.
8 mill tho...cant see that happening at all
Eriksson can be the extra forward, he looked engaged last game, and in his interview he does not sound like a locker room cancer. If stetcher can fetch a decent pick we should definitely trade him, I think we have guys in the ahl that can play 10 safe minutes a night alongside benn, and once tyramkin comes over in April we’ll have decent depth again. Now if somebody gets injured great we hold onto stetcher and relish in our depth.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 11:38 am Pairing Barrie with Hughes won’t work, too similar too small. I like Edler with Myers. Tanev and Hughes are perfect for each other. Stecher and Benn are disposable. Might have to trade Markstrom to make room for Hughes and Pettersons next contracts. Sutter is as good as gone for the cheaper Gaudette, but Markstrom, Sutter, Stecher, Benn, Tanev all stay the season. Eriksson is impossible, we should really stop talking about trying to trade him. It’s like Chicago trying to trade Seabrook, accept it. Unless we offer a high pick or top prospect in which I have no interest in doing
