Yeah....this is plausible as well.

Or flipped as I suggested earlier.

Talking to rats and ap offline.

A Verhoeff & Ruck twins draft day would be solid.

Mëds wrote: Tue May 05, 2026 6:30 pm Toronto would actually be smart to draft a defenseman.

But it all depends upon what Matthews plans to do.
Lots of he's on the move chatter out there today....media spin likely but I can see easily him heading to 'Merica like his boys Mitch and Biebs.
Yeah exactly my thoughts.

TBH, even if Matthews is on the move, they should go that route and do as Topper says - build from the net out (not that they have a goaltender).

Matthews leaving signals rebuild. Nylander has said he's not in for a rebuild.

Verhoeff seems to be trending own a little bit at the moment, but who knows. I actually like Stenberg at three for us, despite all the Swedes here.

donlever wrote: Tue May 05, 2026 5:17 pm We could as easily as not get the best player at 3.

No sure things in this draft.
Agreed. Actually, I am pleased in that I think it increases the chances that the Canucks will select the player who will be the best player on the Canucks. McKenna may well wind up being the best player, but he would achieve less of his potential here.

21st century 3 OAs have included Toews, Draisaitl, Huberdeau, and Bouwmeester.

If the Canucks do that well, it will be a draft that advances the rebuild.

Canucks marketing should jump on selling this motto on a jersey.

C.Malhotra is starting to grow on me. I thought he was just a 2-way guy like his old man and maybe a bit more skilled, but one of the Nuck Army Nerds is saying his playmaking is top notch, always a great trait in a C. He's putting up some big numbers in the junior playoffs as well, which is impressive. If he can learn the defnsive side of the game and FOs from his old man and then fill in some muscle to that frame, he could become like a Barkov.

Pretty anti-climatic, eh... completely not unexpected.

...and now we get to watch the dog n pony GM hiring show, followed by the draft pick by JR before The Fuckin' Guy takes his Ovaltine with him to his new retirement home.

There is no salvation for the followers of this religion.
