The Aquas are punishing the organization for gifting Petey $11.6 million per year. It’s payback for mismanagement

I was a bit surprised Foote-Job got the gig over Coach Malhotra. Ideally, I would have given the job to Manny, but felt he could use another year or 2 in Abby to build up his experience. Ironically, Foote has less experience than Manny and is quite green on the coaching resume. Oh well, at least if we need to fire him, it should be cheap.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Wed May 14, 2025 6:07 pm Don Taylor says the Vancouver media will harass Adam Foote about his son's court case.
Cheap to fire if they don't pan out is a good point Bert, and one we don't often consider. Geezer probably knows if he messes this up, it's coming out of the budget somewhere. PNE lawn parking only covers so much.Todd Bersnoozi wrote: ↑Wed May 14, 2025 9:48 pmI was a bit surprised Foote-Job got the gig over Coach Malhotra. I do like having those former NHLers behind the bench, I think they have a lil more credibility with the players as they have been there and done that. I think they can relate to players better as well as they have been through the battles and know about the pressures the players are going through. I know Huggy43 likes Foote also, so that may have been a factor by mgmt to keep him happy and mitigate the loss of Tocc.
I thought former assistants here like Glen Guletzen, Mike Yeo or even Jeremy Colliton might have been good. Each of those guys have tons of NHL assistant coaching experience and even have some head coaching experience. I think each of those guys have the potential to make a big jump in their coaching games and become a respected bench boss around the league. They have the experience, gone through some failures and went on to fine tune their coaching by going to serve as a understudy from some of the great bench bosses around the league; kinda like Tocc, Greener and Mike Sullivan before they became a proven, in demand, NHL coach. Guletzen, Yeo and Colliton wouldn't cost much to hire as well and would also be cheap to fire.
Holy fuck. On the job for 6 hours and already people write the book on the guy. Hopefully he doesn’t read the internet and let everyone form his opinions for himPicker of Cherries wrote: ↑Wed May 14, 2025 4:20 pm Canucks will be way too defensive with Foote as head coach.
They’ll fail to outscore most teams and the team will preform miserably.
Rutherford’s master plan will only come to light when Gavin McKenna starts wearing the stinky whale next summer and Manny replaces Foote as head coach.
Foote’s only hired to drive a tank for one season.
The media will harass him about every. Single. Thing. They. Can.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Wed May 14, 2025 6:07 pm Don Taylor says the Vancouver media will harass Adam Foote about his son's court case.
Hey, I thought I was being optimistic, admittedly a little tin-foil hatty, but definitely optimistic. Tanking for McKenna is definitely a winning strategy.Madcombinepilot wrote: ↑Thu May 15, 2025 6:32 amHoly fuck. On the job for 6 hours and already people write the book on the guy. Ever try any optimism?? Perhaps let Footes actions speak louder than words as opposed to writing the guy off before he even gets his shit to the office??
The negativity around the media and some fans is staggering. No wonder people and players don’t want to come here.

Thanks Don. You just saved those lazy f7cks from having to do any research at all. Thanks for piling on.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Wed May 14, 2025 6:07 pm Don Taylor says the Vancouver media will harass Adam Foote about his son's court case.
Especially if you tank for McKenna and don't get McKenna, then you have to keep on tanking.Madcombinepilot wrote: ↑Thu May 15, 2025 7:05 am The problem with Tanking is nobody ever knows when to stop.

I still see Yogi as listed as an Assistant Coach - by hiring two more, does that mean he gets replaced? Or they going with 3 assistants like they have previously, and Gonch as a what-ever he is?Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Thu May 15, 2025 2:29 pm
He did say they will be hiring two assistant coaches. One offensive and one defensive. Perhaps they go for a little more coaching experience there. Overall I think it is the right move as we are still a developing team in a lot of respects but one that should be able to compete for the playoffs.
